Good morning all my fellow MyLotters! Today is my birthday and I wanted to share it! I have a question...did you have a goal set you wanted to meet or have accomplished by your next birthday?
Me, well yes I did. I made a promise that I would buy a house, and it came to happen! We were living in a house that was very run down and the landlord didn't make the repairs or anything. It just wasn't a good place to be in. So my goal was to be in a house last December, and here I am...one year later, sitting here this morning on my computer, in my kitchen and looking out of a beautiful floor to ceiling window, at my backyard...yes I am blessed.

You are one blessed person. I am glad you have a thankful attitude for the things you have accomplished.
To answer your question, yes I make goals secretly. But not all of them come true. Sometimes along the way, there are challenges that keep me from fulfilling it. I just live each day as I can. I don't know what lies ahead of me. Before I pressure myself but now I try to enjoy every day's life and also enjoy whatever I have.
I am so happy for you and more birthdays to come!!!!

LOL Thank you so much! I think the best part sometimes is when the goal is made secretly. It's one of those things that you share only with yourself (and God) and when it happens you definitely feel so blessed. I am very thankful for all I have and the fact I was able to live another year.

That's great! I make goals and I acknowledge to myself it's a possibility I may not be able to complete it, but at the same time I make a promise to myself that I will sure give it a heck of a try!

You must be very lucky. I did not set any goal for my next birthday. I just want to gain weight.That's all. lol. When I reach my birthday I just be very thankful that God allows me to live in this world and promise to be a better person. I am just doing the best that I can be to support myself and my family.

I am there with you. It is difficult for my family right now. I have been out of work technically for 5 months after having a heart attack. Although I am doing much better I still have some bad days. Just one day at a time and I'll get there. Luck to you and your family!

happy birthday. I make wish when I cut cakes with my friends. Usually, I will make three wishes and two will be public. The one last is only known by me and God since I pray to God. Next year, I want to have a house on my own. Then, I want to be an interpreter. The last wish will be secret. HAHA. Have a nice day.

Happy birthday~. Setting a goal to be done by your next birthday is a meaningful thing to do. This creates a goal to work to. However, keep in mind that the goal needs to be realistic so that its possible to accomplish within a year. Then, every year becomes a meaningful year for you. Lastly, Hope you had a happy birthday:)

Exactly. I knew trying to get a house was going to be a big goal and maybe difficult, but I also knew it was obtainable. It took alot of work and discipline to make it happen but it did. Oh, and thank you for the birthday wishes.

Hi BIZNESS, the birthday guy. I believe to achieve your goal especially to own a house is very challenging. Not so straight forward right? If you can share your experience from the day you make a wish till you buy the house, it would benefit many MyLotters! Cheers...

Thank you first for the wishes.
As for the goal...well, to begin with I started looking online, in the papers, etc. to see what was available. I then started a list. The list had everything I was looking for in a house from size, number of bedrooms, location, price, payments, etc.
I then added what I would 'compromise' on. If I was willing to, let's say, have less rooms for a lower price; different location for larger home, etc. Then I knew exactly what I wanted which is the first step.
Then I researched more to see what was available with all the specifics I was looking for. To be honest, I found a few houses but just not what I wanted.
Next, I put the word out with people I knew that I was looking.
My next step was putting money aside each pay check for a down payment if needed.
After about 6 weeks, I started going out and looking at some properties. In the meantime, I was adjusting my budget to handle a house payment.
After about 4 months and more research, I found that there are alot of people willing to do owner financing due to the economy. Which was fantastic! I looked and found a few people willing to do that with no money down and lower payments.
I finally found 'the house' I wanted, worked with the owners and ended up doing an owner financing, lease purchase with no down payment! It was great! I was able to move right in. The down side (if there is one) is I am purchasing 'as is' so any repairs, etc., I have to make. But the house is in great shape and the repairs have been minimal, so it worked out and I love it!
Don't know if this will help anyone but my advice is set the goal, make a plan, stick to it and work hard.
