You are the doctor of yourself

We went to clinic of one of the known natural doctors yesterday here in oour country for my MILs check up on her slight Parkinson's disease. She was given medications in replace of what she currently took. Furthermore, we were given instructions on the food to avoid and things to do while in medication. According to the doctor, we are the doctor to our self. They are just there to assist and give recommendations. If you follow their instructions, you will get the best results in shorter time.
I realized that it was true because you are not with the doctor 24/7 and you are the one that will decide to follow the instructions if you want to get cured.
What are yoru thoughts about this one mylotters?

Well to be honest I avoid going to the doctor's office for as long as I can. In my opinion Doctors become Doctors for one reason only: Money. It's not like it was so many years ago when doctors actually cared abut their patients. So if & when I go to see a doctor I will do what he says I should do, but I wont go back for a check up if I am feeling better. That's just their way of making even more money off of me.

Your comment is an affront to the medical community. I don't suppose you would spend tens of thousands of dollars on upwards of 10 years in college simply for the money. Most doctors become doctors to help improve the human condition.
As for the original poster, I am very afraid of the term natural doctors as these doctor may not use practices that are based on modern science. In fact, many natural "remedies" do more harm than good. Alternative medicine doctors are in it only for the money, and most of them know that their medicines are scams.

Liviaslife, sometimes I agree with you because I experienced this when my son got into accident, they don't want to make first aid to my son when he was rushed in the emergency room until they pay the initial assesment. Furthermore, during his follow-up check-up he was advised to confined in the hospital and will pay for thousands of pesos even he was already alright and the wounds are dried already.
Rigel4, I think it really depends on the natural doctor you are going to. There are legitimate natural doctors in our country. I agree with you that there are some that made scams on natural healing but there are legal ones and proven to be same output as modern/western doctors.

Yes it is true definitely,all of us should take care of our health and I think who know our health condition is ourselves,so your doctor is right they are just there to assist and give recommendations.

That is what i am trying to say. Even you have the best doctor in town but you will not follow their recommendations, you will not get well.

That surely is one simpler way of saying it.
I also tell my kids the same regarding their school work/performance. Their teachers are there to teach and record their scores. The teachers do not make the scores but the students. So whatever results you get in your exams and quizzes are all of your own doing and not by the teachers themselves.

You are right, it is raelly lies on their hands. Teachers and doctors are just there to recommend and monitor you.
