Every year, we have our Corporate Christmas party where the attendees are only the officers and the upper management of all our 5 affiliates. And when we attend that, we really buy new clothes and even new shoes and party bags. It is a costly one., because the management will spend for our traveling & hotel expenses specially when it’s here , that those from head office will come here or when it’s in Manila and we will be going there. Thus, when we came to know that there won’t be any this year, we were happy yet sad. Happy because we don’t have to spend money on our clothes . Sad, because we won’t be experiencing a fabulous party, since it’s always held at the affiliates’ posh hotels. But overall , I am happy because I can have an additional budget instead, for our family’s shopping on Christmas day.

Wow!! it is really great experience to be with that kind of party. I guess you really to be with your best look there,so that you will not left behind. But since you said that it is done yearly then you can wait till next year to experience that again. And yes, just be happy about it, it is good that you can have extra budget for your family.

For the past years we have been attending it. I remembered the first time , it was at Makati Shangrila. It was a buffet dinner and the foods were great. Then , when our company acquired the former Hyatt Hotel at Pasay , now called Midas Hotel, we held the Corporate Christmas party there. The foods were great also, Japanese etc. It was such a great experience, because we wear our very best. Some are even in gowns! What a relief that we don't have to buy new dresses and shoes to go with the dress now!

I think that's a win-win situation. Your company doesn't have to spend so much on lavish parties, they can instead give it to their employees as bonuses. While you get to spend more on your family. Not only the gifts but also the time. Instead of going to the party you can spend more time with your family. I understand that it is sad because you've done the party for the past years but eventually you'll appreciate the change.

Actually, i was more happy than sad indeed, my friend. I was even decided that if it will push through i wont' be going. I think the company learned their lesson of having to spend so much for a party. I really hope with that, they may be able to use some of the supposed budget for that , for some bonus.

Well it happens in most companies actually. That is cost-cutting which is probably due to low financial condition of the company or simply because the company just finds it more practical to do away with such kind of extravagant event. It's a nice experience to hold Christmas party in big hotel. I truly understand your sentiment. It is really a nice feeling to be fully dressed and made up and enjoy fine dining and classy treatment in a posh hotel. But if that kind of grand celebration has been deleted I really agree that on the other hand, you also have good reason to be happy over this development. I myself would be happier if I were you because spending for new clothes, bag, shoes and accessories for that event would be really costly. Indeed it is better to use the money for the family instead.

Indeed my friend. Making the family happy is far more important than making myself happy alone. Thus, i can forgo of the fabulous party, so i could have more budget for the shopping spree of the family.

Hello SIMPLYD, I myself is very much appreciative of the parties that our company throw for their employees. Free food, luxurious accommodations, happy times with friends, the whole nine yards. But with the calamities that Philippines have encountered recently, our management decided to give up the party and donate the money instead to those who were affected by the calamities. I guess I would much rather have the money donated to less fortunate than spend it partying our hearts out, so I am okay with it. Have a great holidays to you and your family

That's true my friend . Rather than spending it on parties, the company should just give it to those recently stricken places , by typhoon Pablo. I think that our company will indeed be giving donations to those places, as our company always does.

Everything will have a good side and bad side, and obviously you well know about that, you can see that you can save more money for your family's gift, that is great as well. And since that you have spend the corporate Christmas party at the affiliates hotel before so I think that may be that is enough,as a employee, saving money is the most important,do you think so?

Actually, that's what i thought of too my friend. For the past years i have experienced attending such fabulous parties yearly , so it was already enough for me. The call for the family's welfare than my own enjoyment is stronger, that's why i finally decided not to be going. Good thing , it was not pushed though. Well, we still have our office party, where you can wear whatever best you have. No need to spend more.

Yes, actually the Christmas party is a much awaited occasion every year. Abundant delicious foods, prices for the games, dancing, drinking and most of all raffle draws, wow, these things really excite us all. For the Christmas party, dressing fabulously is also an excitement. Everybody looks so fabulous once a year at least.

I think it's wise to just cancel the corporate party, give more time for your family and save money for next year. besides, companies needs to save a lot of money if they are gonna keep it running and keep themselves from loosing more and more employees and decreasing their salaries.

It's a good thing that it was not pushed through Letran. That's because i am decided not to go because i would like the budget to be added to our shopping money on Christmas day. We are allotting that day for going out with our daughter, coz' it's her birthday.

your unica hija was born on christmas day? no wonder she's heaven-sent. when will she be home for christmas? i think donating to pablo's victim in lieu of a big party is great. but doing charity in your area is just as helpful. i hope there's leftover lechon so you can make lechon paksiw. have you completed the number of prizes already?

That would be an extravagant party however you said that you won't have the party now anyway you will have additional budget for your Christmas shopping. That would be good too. Have a Blessed Christmas in advance!

Indeed it's an extravagant party. That's why maybe the company realized that they are spending so much for it. Imagine if it is held there in the place of our Head Office, or them coming over to the province. It would mean lots of money for the travelling expenses.

I'm looking forward for a Christmas party also than a Team Building. It's the time of the year where you'll be fabulous than ever. I know that it's not practical to buy clothes and shoes that you can just wear for a night but you can't help but get excited and just shop. I'm sorry you will not be able to be as fab as last year but at least your Christmas Eve will be fab this year. My brother's company is also not having a party because their company wants to add the expenses of the party to their bonuses. :)

well, that is true my friend. One cannot control being excited for a fabulous party, so you have to buy a dress and shoes and other accessories. At least, your brother would have a bigger bonus, because they will not be having a party. However, one cannot deny that the Christmas party is one activity that all the employees are looking for.
