Gaining Weight During the Holidays

We are all guilty of this. We eat a lot during the holidays, thus we gain weight. We all know which foods to avoid, but since Christmas comes just once a year we indulge. I can understand fifty or sixty years ago that families really put a lot of effort on preparing the Christmas feast. And one can never claim these feasts to be healthy. But people never became fat back then because most of the time people ate simple food. It was only during the holiday season that one can eat a lot of sweets, pastries and meats because it is a special occasion. But nowadays, one can have turkey anytime. Mashed potatoes with all kinds of flavor are common. You can drop by any coffee or pastry shop and order the most indulgent sweet. And it doesn't have to be Christmas. So knowing what makes us fat, will you avoid eating all those good food this coming Christmas? Happy Holidays!

Christmas or any other holiday seems to be 'over-doing' it any way and every way possible. We overeat, and we overspend like crazy on this holiday. Is this an American thing? Or just a human thing? For some reason we put everything into this holiday and overconsume completely, regardless of what it is we are consuming! I enjoy Christmas and the holiday seasons, but it gets to be very tiring.

lets not make holiday an excuse for over eating foods specially those sweet and fatty foods.. because we all know that eating too much of it is bad for our health and of course it will make us gain some weights.. lets all be conscious of what we eat.. i am not saying that don't eat but be careful if we don't wanna gain weight..

I guess you can say I'm going to be a bit skeptical, but not to a point that I don't enjoy myself. My problem is, I love food, lol! I quit smoking back on Mothers Day in May and I've gained about 10 pounds so far. I'm NOT happy. When I smoked, I ate all I wanted and didn't gain weight and was at a perfect weight. Now I'm not, so again, I'm NOT happy. I have just decided though that I will try harder to lose some weight before Christmas comes, and then enjoy myself, and then diet again, lol! I don't know what else to do. It seems even if I live on vegies, I still gain weight...ugh. Happy Holidays to you too!!

I don't worry about trying to lose weight during the holidays being thanksgiving and christmas. I eat alot because I work in a hospital so all the reps that come in always brings goodies and of course I indulge in them. Once the new year rolls around I will start back up on my weight loss again and get back into shape but for the time being I'm going to enjoy the holidays with my family and loved ones and eat all that i want too good or bad.

For me, I love trying out different types of food. And with the holidays, I like eating the foods meant for the special occasions. Savoring the taste of excellent food is one of the more satisfying things I enjoy. While a lot of people are usually health conscious, I am not quite that conscious about my weight. I try to exercise for at least half an hour each day. But of course, I have those days where I do not have the energy to exercise. Anyway, I probably will not avoiding eating the special foods of the holiday season, but I will try to control the portion size of my consumption for the food.

I know I can't eat a lot because I'm trying to lose weight. I will have dinner then maybe a piece of pie and be done. Although I do love sweets and know I'm going to be around them. I just have to be strong and stay away from them.

why avoid it if you like it? i mean, it's Christmas and we have to celebrate and just be happy and we will never be happy if we are watching our weight and avoiding the food on the table. we have to be thankful because we have food to eat on this very special day. the food is there to be eaten by us not to be avoided. happy holidays!!

Actually those who are craving for sweets, pastries and all this kind of things, are really suffering during holidays. Being a little oversized, we know that lot of food and sweets harm us. But with all that plenty of foods around and seeing how the others eat without thinking twice, then we can be influenced somehow to break the 'law'. During these family holidays the temptation is hard to beat. So, let's say that once or twice a year we can make an exception. Lead a healthy lifestyle during the whole year instead.
