Wrapping your own gift...

My Mom and I were having a discussion last night about wrapping Christmas gifts. She said she hates wrapping gifts, and I said "that's part of the fun of Christmas, wrapping gifts in pretty packages." Then she told me she should hire me to wrap her presents. I said "Well, Dad had me wrap your gifts for you much of the time." ha! Then she told me she use to have to wrap her own gifts. I got a good chuckle out of this one. I can believe too that my Dad would have her wrap her own gifts and then act surprised on Christmas. What do you make of this? Have you ever wrapped your own gift? I'm still having a good chuckle over it this morning.

NO, I can't say I have ever wrapped my own gift and it's nice that you helped your Dad because guys are usually so bad at it. I don't see anything wrong with it though. We're talking about adults here and it really doesn't have to be a surprise.

No, there's nothing wrong with it. I just got a chuckle out of it, because I didn't know my Dad did that

I got lost at first, didn't entirely understand it because I misread a line in your statement but after re-reading I ended giving out a short laugh. I remember an event way back in high school where we were going to have a Christmas party and that normally included exchanging gifts. It was a new experience for me because we had to pick up a number at the very same day we were to exchange gifts, and normally we would just pick a paper wherein a name of a classmate is written a few weeks before the party and so we would buy the gift for that person specifically. It was not a problem because it was an exclusive boys school so we would definitely be buying stuff for guys. So, my best friend and I went together to buy gifts and we got them wrapped. In the party, we ended up getting each others' name so we actually were surprised, not at the gift, of course but at the outcome of the event.

That's a nice story Choybel, I love outcomes like that. I'm sure it made the exchanging of gifts much more special as well having it come from one of your best friends.

That's really funny. I can't remember if I've wrapped my own gifts before. LOL. I guess not. Haha. Advance Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Hahaha. I think that would be fun Arieles. Wrapping your own gift! :) Well, I really have a gift for myself but I didn't wrap it. Maybe I will now that you had shared it. Yeah, we know what is inside of the gift but I really think it is still; fun. Merry Christmas! :)

Thank you Bluespygirl...lol...yeah, I've bought myself gifts before, but have never wrapped them other than the time I got one for myself from the kids.

Wrapping your own gift and pretend to be surprised is hilarious..made me laugh too. I've never done this but I used to buy myself gifts, mostly birthday. Even cakes, I buy myself birthday cakes, my sisters are so kind to remind me that it's my birthday and I should buy cake.

I bought myself a gift from my kids once and wrapped it. They were 3 and 4, and I was divorced, and I wanted to have a gift to open with them on Christmas morning. I bought myself one of those little foot spas, and I still have it! I haven't bought myself any cakes, but I think that's a great idea. I'm going to do that for my 48th birthday next year. Thanks for the response.

No, I don't think I've ever done that! It would be hard for me to act surprised on Christmas morning. I buy things for my daughter when she sees something she'd like for Christmas so she knows what she's getting, but she doesn't have to wrap it! I think if my husband wouldn't wrap a gift to me it would just be left unwrapped.

I don't like to wrap up gifts. I'm not the type of creative person when it comes to this. I rather let the salesperson at the departmental store do the wrapping for me. They can do better than me and I've seen it before. They can really wrap up the gifts very well.
