I reported at our provincial office yesterday because we prepared for the upcoming party which will be happening today. The phone rang so I picked it up and my friend from the regional office was on the line for some documents to be faxed. When I read the document it was an order coming from our department secretary that party in any of our offices should not be done at this time. Instead we should collect those amount in order to give it to the people who were affected by the recent calamity. But since the order came in after everything was already prepared, we decided to continue with the party and we will just collect again so that we can give our donation to the victims of the calamity. I appreciate our new secretary for doing this, it is just that we planned this long before the event came. Still the party will continue and we will give additional amount for that purpose. So the party still continues today. Happy Holidays!

Christmas party is one of the special event everyone awaits during christmas,i think everyone will be disappointed if it will be cancelled, but good that you still able to continue with the party and just give donations afterwards.your secretary is really a concern citizen and it is a good thing that she is making her own ways to help others who are really in need.

Yes we wanted it early so that everybody could attend the party. Most of my office mates are already busy on the third week of the month. Thank you for sharing!

Hi jeztrose! Every year, we are having a party at the office because this is the only time in a year that we can be together consider the work load that we have in our work. Personally, I am assigned in another place so most of the time, I would be staying on my place of assignment and seldom that I have time with my office mates. So this time of the year, we will be going to our provincial office for this event. That is why I was the one to receive that memorandum because we are preparing the place that day. Although we are willing to cancel, it was just we were already prepared it before and we really planned that it must be earlier this time so that everybody could attend. The later the date, the more activities may have causing them to miss this event. Well anyway, the party was a successful one and we already agreed on how to give our donations to the victims of pablo. Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing!

That sounds like a wonderful concept(the donation) and glad you get to take part in both. The festive season is a time where we should unite and help those who have it tougher than we do.

I agree with both of you. The first person who should always be there for us in times of calamities are our friends, relatives and countrymen. Second to being ready at all times is that we should always be ready to help also. Have a nice day and thank you for sharing!

Your department secretary's decision to cancel the party was very noble. It was a reasonable decision given what our fellow men endured because of the typhoon. No one can blame you for still deciding to party. It was a wise choice not to dampen the holiday spirit. So I think you guys were nobler for choosing to donate money from your own pockets to the typhoon victims. You didn't just uphold the spirit of Christmas by partying and celebrating, you also helped others, which I believe is the true essence of the holidays. Kudos to you guys! :)

Yes enigma. I would agree that our department secretary is a good man and he just thought that although having a party is good as this is the way of having a time together but it is not good to have a party while our brothers and sisters are suffering. Well anyway the party was successful and we were able to devote some amount for the victims of the typhoon. Thank you for sharing!

Good to know that your officials decided to help the people who are the victims of calamity. But as you said its already planned i hope this would not lead to any misunderstandings between the officials and staff. Its good to know that you people decided to help them with the additional amount.

Yes, being one department that aims to improve the quality of life of every Filipino, it is also one of our duty to make sure that everybody is okay. So times like this calls that everyone of us work hand in hand in order to make the burden lighter. Thank you for sharing!

cancelling your party just for the sake of helping the victims of the previous typhoon is such a great heroic deed. But maybe you can still do your party while giving donations. I guess you can handle that two things at the same time.

Enjoy your party. Just because there is a request to give to charity doesn't mean that people can't enjoy a party. I am a member of a group and we decided to give to charity this Christmas. Some members said that we should not exchange gifts with each other at the party. We only give each other small, inexpensive gifts anyways, but, instead buy a gift for a needy child at Christmas. We decided we would do both and we did. Christmas is a time of Joy for everyone.

Hi ZoeJoy! You are right. We should also enjoy after a year's working. We don't need to deprive ourselves of the happiness that we deserve. We can help even if we enjoy. Thank you for sharing!

I understand why the Department Secretary ordered this no party thingy... since there are so many of our countrymen who are suffering right now... it is like unfair to party... but then... this is a time when we should be happy... and it is unfair for those who already prepared for the event... It good of you to still do the collection to be donated to the victims... it is your right to be happy... as long as you do not forget to extend that happiness to others...

Yeah so sad with our fellowmen who got affected by Pablo. There will be a sad Christmas for them and lets pray for them and help anything that we could. Since your party was already planned better continue it and as you have said you still help our fellowmen which is great and nice gesture which truly shows the spirit of Christmas and who Filipino are.
