I love broccoli. I used to just eat the flowerettes, if that us what they are called. The outside of the stalks are tough, so I cut off the outer part and eat the stalk. There is no waste that way. I don't even count the calories of the veggies. I figure the calories are mostly negative anyway, since my body burns calories to digest them. I am thinking if phasing meat out if my diet. I get my protein from a couple slices of American cheese at breakfast and supper. I don't eat bread anymore. My daughter and I are losing 2 to 3 pounds a day because our calories are so low that the body burns body fat for energy. We don't get hungry like before. I like drinking skin milk twice a day also. My daughter didn't eat her grapefruit smiles I cut up for her today so I will eat them tomorrow. My daughter said her back doesn't hurt anymore like it used to. I am looking forward to when mine doesn't hurt. I mopped my kitchen and breakfast room floor by hand today. I worked up a sweat. I sure do enjoy the smell of a freshly mopped floor. It helps me to burn calories too. I'm so thankful for my daughter to be my center. She has helped to change my thinking. My body image and my health is more imoortant to me than a taste if my used to be favorite foods. I'm not depressed anymore either. I'm feeling good on the inside as well as on the outside. My 1X jeans fit me and just 2 weeks ago I couldn't pull them over my hips. Don't get me wrong, I'm still heavier than most of you. But I've come a long way. I went from 412 to 289. I want to get to 170. I will wear a size 12 to 14 at that weight. I told my daughter that when we lose all our eight I want us to go to Glamor Shots to get some portraits made of us. I want us to get something really nice to wear and really treat ourselves with these photos. Your thoughts?

I like brocolli. I think they are called 'flowerettes'. Most vegetables and fruit have a certain amount of fiber in them and this helps to digest and get them through the intestine and the bowell. I congratulate you on have a taste now for the vegetables and the weight you are losing. THis is great! Losing weight does aliminate the strain on body parts. I know my hip wouldn't hurt as bad in the Winter months if I could get about 150 pounds off this poor body of mine. I do try to eat healthy some of the time. And my depression would probably be lessened too. Portraits of yourself would be such fun and before and afters would be cool too. I hope you will share these with us at some point. How exciting. I spent three months exercising every day and eating a pretty strict diet and only lost 35 pounds. Wasn't too bad. I am so proud of you and happy that you are able to do this. Looks like you have about 119 left to go. By mid Summer you should be about at your goal. Yayy is right.

This works but its not a 'diet' for me. It's a lifestyle change that I will live with instead if eating the way I was. I had a gastric bypass and I couldn't eat a lot either, but I managed to gain back 70 pounds of the 150 I lost. I have just 19 pounds left to lose and I will be at square one. Now the weight is shedding at 2 to 3 pounds each day. It will eventually slow down, but my daughter has lost 58 pounds now and tomorrow she will report another 2 or 3 pound loss. The great thing is that I don't get hungry anymore. I don't crave anything u used to want. I'm not depressed anymore. I feel in control of my life for the first time in years because what I put into my mouth matters to me.

if you are going vegan make sure you get a proper vegan diet or else you will not be getting the vitamins you need to stay healthy.

I don't think I will actually go vegan. I won't vow never to eat meat because i do enjoy it. If I feel like eating meat, I will some days and if I don't want to I won't. I won't go vegan because I like my cheese too much. I like eating two slices of white Borden's 60 calorie cheese. I like the store brand egg beaters better than regular eggs. I had 8 ounces if turkey soup that I made and froze a couple of weeks ago. I nuked a small potato and then pored my soup over the potatoe and ate it that way. I have quit eating butter or margarine. I quit eating sour cream, but I will continue to have my Greek yogurt. I get the low fat variety.

I love it cooked and raw. Your soup sounds good. The only broccoli soup I have made is creamy and that is too fattening for me now. I mainly eat raw now. I like the way I feel when eating a raw diet. I still do eat a small amount if cooked foods but I plan to phase them out for the most part.

Yes I remember when I had lost alot of weight I was in less pain that before, so it does work. My back hurts alot on and off nowadays especially if I'm on here. I like eating broccoli, I have cooked it perfectly medium soft the last few times I have cooked the frozen but home grown broccoli we have had in the freezer here and I love it! I do want to cut out alot of the sugar again and have been taking coconut oil this time to help with the weight but mostly my immune system and thyroid. I have used it as a moisturizer on my face and neck last night and might have already noticed a difference. My feet also but they were still quite dry in the a.m. I say you did a great job on the weightloss, I'm proud of you too! I hope you can get to your goals and that rewarding yourselves with glamour shots will be a wonderful incentive to doing so. I just love some of the people on this site, being so normal and happy with goals, so unlike the people I call "family" that I live with at times, they are a total different story and not a very good one either.

That's awesome about the oil. I've never tried that. I think I love the stalks on the broccoli better than the rest if it. I don't use sugar or eat processed carbs anymore. I feel much better for it.

I wish I could go to a gym. My son in law spoke about making our sun room into an exercise gym. I hope they do.

hopefully :) but gym is not the only option you have. you can simply walk /jog outside to your housing area.. make it from 10 - 15 mins.. slowly increase the interval :D that's what i did previously.. before my friend bring me to nearby gymnastic.

It's great that you're both so enthusiastic and noticing some real benefits with the changes occurring. It's a huge goal but it sounds like you're on the right track so good luck.

Go for it, nothing like a reward at the end! But take it a little at the time, and don't get so focused on the goal at the end that you get frustrated if you plateau.

It is great that you are losing the weight. In terms of protein, tempeh is a good source. Cooking it in olive oil with some vegetables and seasonings makes for a good, quick and healthy meal. It is also great baked, in stew or used in chili. It is better for you than American cheese--no artificial colors and far less processed. We love veggies here, and broccoli is no exception. We actually just had some as part of the dinner I prepared earlier.

I don't know what that tempeh is that you mentioned. I don't sauté anything in any kind if oil. I just mainly eat raw instead if cooked by my own choice. I eat less and get satisfied on just a little bit. I might get to where u try cooking, I just don't want to go over 700 calories a day. I don't really count them, but I mentally assess what I've eaten in a day.

That sounds like a diet I need. I truly wish I could lose some weight. I don't really eat that much any more but I still can't seem to lose.

A few days ago my boyfriend advised me to eat raw broccoli. I love vegetables, but not too fond of raw vegetables. I have not tried it until now, but I have to because some days ago I feel not fit, apparently because of the food I have eaten. Do you eat raw broccoli? how it taste?

Here in mexico.. which is poor. many use stalks to make a caldo or soup. Kinda like a bullion. Its really cook. You boil it very a long time and it breaks up.

I bet it is good too! I love those stalks raw. I peel them and chew them up. To me they are better than the flowerettes.
