Already thought of what to give this Christmas?

I am in a pinch...but maybe not. ...maybe I am. "I have no job... I have no money to spend on gifts." If I think like this, it would be another Christmas for me without a gift for my family. If you're in this dilemma, what would you do? @_@ I have certain skills though, I can program and fix computers, I can draw on paper and create digital images. I am a researcher but none of them can help with what to give my family. But I can crochet though. I don't have to spend money to give any presents. But another dilemma is coming my way, what do I use to buy the yarn?! Well, this is what's happening in my life now. What about yours? Have you already decided on what to give your family?

I feel so sorry to hear about that you are in such dilemma and even more in this Christmas season,so why not go out and do some part time job and get some money? And if part time job is not suitable for you then I think do some hand made crafts are acceptable,I sure you family will like that.

I just finished two gifts already--And my fingers ache like I just typed 25 pages of my novel--which I didn't. You are right, part time is really not suitable for me. Taking one beats the purpose of why paused from schooling in the first place. I easily tire and I easily abuse my body. And yes, even without going to school I still abuse myself. It's a habit that I really can't help but do. This one is my gift for my brother: (the image is not mine) http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SdURtGOL_ec/T5HzGS7Z44I/AAAAAAAAACQ/_3c662ph_L4/s1600/Heartless_Loves_Hearts_by_Phantasmfreud.jpg And a pair of crocheted slippers for my mother.

I have the same problem too. Right now, all of my money is being saved for my daughter and I don't have enough money with me to buy gifts. I used to make hand made cards out of recycled papers and cut outs from some old magazines. It is one good thing that you know how to crochet or has skills with art. You just need to widen your imagination and look around, you may find useful stuff that you can use for this.

If it's just immediate family such as your wife or children then you could give them sort of favours eg, entitled to a back massage, cooking meals, cleaning the bathroom. The other thing you could do is give food such as baking cookies.

I can bake but I have no ingredients and our oven just broke--think about timing. Other household chores I really fail in doing them. I mean I suck at anything related to house chores. I can massage since I can bake but in the end I tend to sleep the whole day the next day if I do massage my mom or brother. Those two are really stressed out big time--including me because I'm the one massaging them every once in a while.

Perhaps you could give a gift certificate that utilizes one or more of your talents and meets a family member's needs. I would love to have someone come to my house and show me how to use my Mac better. There are things that I could do on my PC that I can't do on my Mac because it doesn't work the same. Maybe a family member needs someone to write a program for a special need. Maybe you could teach another family member to crochet. You mentioned no money for yarn. Have you checked the local Goodwill store, or other thrift stores? You might be surprised at what you can find for very little money.

I live in the Philippines--particularly in Mindanao. I don't think we have Goodwill stores here that you mean. But I have a metallic box with me here with a price tag from Goodwill which was bought from a surplus warehouse. And yep, I was surprised at the price. It was cheaper than the local ones being sold. Anyways, I am not the only technician in my family. Whenever there are problems in terms of computers and electrical stuff, it's my uncle who's being called. The idea seems okay though, maybe I'll give it a try later...that is when most of my family members are bigger. Thanks for the ideas! I really appreciate it. Now I have another possible gifts to give to relatives.

Hi there SinfulRose, In my end here, I already thought the gifts which I will give this Christmas. Though they are not as expensive as I used to give to them. Since my budget for this year is not enough to give them those expensive ones. Anyway, it is the thought that counts.

I always hear people that it's the thought that counts--not the gift. I do agree but if I just thought it out, I would end up with nyada to give. It's good to hear that despite your disposition you have still something up your sleeve to give to your family. No person is really too poor to have nothing to give. How are you doing now by the way? I hope you are better off than before when you made a discussion here in MyLot about your financial problems.

Lucky for you and for your family. And I do agree with you, no matter what the amount as long as the blessing comes from the heart is good. Problem is, I don't know what gift from my heart is worth giving. Thinking about gifts makes me think of merchandises that comes from stores. You could say instead of a gift that comes from the heart, I think of gifts that comes from stores.
