I think the Catholics do not worship Mary instead they honor her. The same way some Muslims honor saints. I also think both are wrong.

We as muslims, never pray to Muhammad. Even he who has brought Islam. But more we pray for Him to the God. We only pray to the God. Why you have to pray to Jesus or Mary?

Catholics pray to Mary to intercede for them. They pray to saints, too. But they don't worship them. There are many churches in Christianity. Presbyterian, Baptist, Mormon (LDS) Lutheran, Catholic, Nazarene, and lots of others. Each have their own beliefs like some think dancing and music is sinful while others don't see anything wrong with it. I think Catholics are the only ones who pray to saints, although I could be wrong.

Mormons are not Christians because they believe that God the father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are three different gods of many and believe that they have to do good works to get saved.

Graptopetalum, I've know many Mormons and gone to their services and what you are saying is not true. They worship God as father, Jesus as God the son and the Holy Spirit as the other part of the Trinity, all one. And they do not believe that good works will save their souls but are dictated to be part of our lives by God--doing good and helping our fellow man is a part of their religion, not a pathway to salvation.

You have a very good knowledge and good wisdom dragon54u. Yes are correct but not "pray to saints" but "pray together with the saints, Mother Mary of Jesus, angels" . Though they are in spirits we are one with God thru Jesus Christ by the guidance or aide of the Holy Spirit. Catholics Christians should always know that we are one body, one soul, one spirit of Jesus Christ who also the head.

Religion is less important. But a RELATIONSHIP with GOD is most important. For that one needs to follow what GOD says than what the Religious leaders say.

Catholics pray to the Virgin Mary because most Catholics believe that Mary can intercede for them.. but in general Catholics pray to God.

Mary is only between God and people. Its a mother of God from Catholic. They just respect and worship Mary, but its fine if they want to pray directly to God. It does not matter if they want directly to Marry or not. Anyway, this question is very deep. Hmmmm... you can search on internet to know why Catholic pray to Mary. It is your faith if you want to accept it or not.

Catholics worship only God and venerate or honor the saints. They honor Virgin Mary as the beloved mother of Jesus and pray to her to intercede in their behalf.

No doubt the Catholics are the first church. But if people drift away from the word of God, then God leaves that people.God stays with the people when they obey His commandments. Father , Son and the Holy Spirit are ONE. Rest are just human.

Not all Christians, just Catholics. Mary is a saint, in their eyes. Catholics will often speak to Saints in their prayers, asking those saints to speak to god on their behalf. They will also speak to God and Jesus directly in their prayers. I'm a Presbyterian (Protestant) among the group of religions that broke from the Catholics in the 1500's and we just pray to God directly.

God is worshipped in many aspects. For many, Mary, the mother is easy to reach. Remember all is one. That is how I would explain this.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ who is the son of God. In worshiping Mother Mary, one is actually asking for her intercession to help us bring our concerns to God.

But it is written that their is only one mediator between God and man and that is Jesus. all the best, urban

Yes urbandekay you are right for the one mediator only. Asking help, intercession, pleading on-behalf, honoring, veneration is not for taking out the position of Jesus as the only way to Jesus. Doing these actually magnified and strengthen our faith. Actually "worshiping" is not the right term but honoring or praying or having a conversation by the guide of the holy spirit. read links. . . . I know that some religions find it out that Catholics pray to Mary and other saints. It has been that way ever since. And the reason for this, they sort of ask help or guidance from them as well. But it does not mean that they should treat them as their god.

[5.116] " And when Allah said: '( Prophet) Jesus, son of Mary, did you ever say to the people: "Take me and my mother for two gods, other than Allah?" 'Exaltations to You, ' he said, 'how could I say that to which I have no right? If I had said that, You would have surely known. You know what is in my self, but I do not know what is in Yours. Indeed, You are the Knowledgeable of the unseen. "

According to AmericanCatholic.org (and I would think this would explain the Catholic position fairly well), to worship something is to also say something is divine. They only believe God is divine. Therefore, they only worship God. They see Mary as one of the saints. They see saints as someone to hold in high esteem. They say what they do shows devotion and honor to Mary. They make a huge distinction between worship and showing honor or showing devotion.

The bible tells to worship God, and Him only. We respect Mary for the fine person she was and for being willing to bring our savior into the world, but we do NOT worship her. We don't even pray through her. Our intercessor is Jesus Christ. We pray  to God in the name of Jesus Christ.

my Bible states that to worship God. and it also states that all things are given unto Jesus Christ in heaven and in earth and we are to put Him first in word and deed. many religions have man made things and should not worship something like that . but alot are raised that way and until they seek and find they will not know. man made idols are not to be worshipped. our battle is not flesh and blood but a spirtual battle..

Absolutely not, christians doesn't worship or pray to marie! I ponder that very same question and came across this passage: Luke 11:27-28: 27: As Jesus was saying these thing, a woman in the crowd call out "Bless is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you." 28: He reply, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." Therefore, we can say that praying or worshiping Marie is a no no!

Your life isn`t based around your religion, I find all your posts are bashing other religions. Your religion isn`t the base of your life, and you need more in life, than to follow a none existant person.

Yes, Catholics worship Mary. That's because they don't read the Bible. They also have those saints and idols. But real Christians don't.

Catholics pray to Mary (she "intercedes" for them). Christians on the other hand, do not, since they believe that we should only worship God (since Mary was once human, she is not God). Catholics and Christians are mostly the same except for the worshiping of idols (Mary, saints, angels, statues, etc). Also, you should note that there are many types of Christians. The one I am talking about here are born-again Christians.
