My oldest child my daughter oh man this has been a bad week for her. She has been sick since Monday night. Tuesday I took her the urgent care after calling her doctor and they didn't have room that day to take her so the nurse told me to take her to a near buy urgent care center which are doctors that see other patients that can't make it to there doctors office or their doctors office is full that day. So I talked to the doctor there after they looked at my daughter and told me that she just had a cold. That didn't sound right to me because it didn't sound like she had a cold at all. I told my husband and did what the doctor told me. Then all day Wednesday she was running a fever off and on all of the time. I kept giving her fever reducing medication and the fever would go away for a while and then come back. So today after a very long night my husband and I took her back to the urgent care and saw a different doctor. This one send us all the way to the children's hospital because she thought that my daughter had pneumonia and the only way to know is to take and x ray of the chest. So we went and saw the doctor did all of the test to find out she just has a very bad upper respirator infection. Which she has had before a few months ago. So she has a very bad virus running throw her little body. They gave us some medication so that way she could eat. Now my other little one. Well he just got his shots on Tuesday for his 2 month check up that he need really bad because he is almost now 4 months old. So he had his two month vaccination and now has had a fever since then starting that Tuesday night. Hopefully he is felling better really soon. I would hate for both of my little ones to be sick on Christmas.

I am sure that your daughter would be better in a day or two. With the right medication, she'd be off with the fever in no time. As for your little one, sometimes after a vaccination, the reaction of the body is to have a fever. And it usually goes away after a day.

She has been sick since Monday night and it's just gotten worse every day. Today was the same as yesterday. There is no medication that you can be given for a virus. She is only has antinause medication so she can eat food with out throwing it back up. Yes I know some times after vaccinations little ones get sick. My daughter got sick when she was 3 months old after a set of shots and it's the same with my son but it's not because of the vaccination. He is actually sick with probably the same thing as his big sister because vaccinations don't cause babies to cough, or sneeze. Yes I know very well that vaccinations can cause for 48 hours a fever but it's been more then 48 hours since his vaccinations because he had them on Tuesday and it's no Friday and he still has a fever.

hi, shybear! I am so sorry your kids are still not feeling better. But if your baby is having cough and cold, he should be taking some medicine for that. Why not bring her to the Pediatrician for a check up?

There isn't anything you can give to a child under the age of 6 for Coughs it's illegal for anyone to sell it to you unless you get a prescription and even going to a doctor they aren't going to give a baby anything because they can't give much to a baby under a 12 months. There isn't anything for Virus that can be give to a person. He will see a doctor but all most likely hood when he and his sister go tomorrow they won't give us anything for what they both have. Some times Medication is more harmful then it his helpful.

You've pretty much just outlined here the reason that I absolutely cannot stand the urgent treatment centers. When Kathryn was right at two years old she broke out with a rash and I couldn't get her into the pediatrician's office because it was near the close of business hours. Well, I took her to urgent treatment and they diagnosed her as having a rash of unknown origin. The rash kept getting worse and I eventually took her to the emergency room, where she was properly diagnosed with scarletina and they gave us antibiotics to get her on the road to recovery.

I'm switching pedications because every time I call the one that my husband sister and uncle told us to go to I can't get the kids in. They have been sick for over a week. So yesterday I end up calling my other sister in laws doctor for her son and we have the kids going in tomorrow. The poor things they are both a little bit better but not all the way yet and I don't know if my son has the same thing as my daughter or not. We just told them that the hospital wanted our daughter to have a fallow up which is true and that we wanted to make sure that my son has a cold and not and upper respitory infection like his sister and if so what can we do to help him since he is small and he get much of anything I just don't what to do to make him feel a little bit better. He is happy but he has a bad cough.

An upper respiratory infection is hard to get rid of and sometimes meds just don't work that great. I know how little ones can feel so rotten but eventually it will go away. In the meantime, we moms are so worried when our kids are sick. Sometimes kids are up and down with this infection meaning they feel good once Tylenol kicks in but when it wears off, it's back to having a sick child. We have been going through this with our grandkids. The baby should be ok in a day or so since it's not uncommon for babies to run a fever after vacinations. Hope they both feel better real soon and you can enjoy Christmas.

They didn't give us anything for it. Just stuff so she can eat with out getting sick to her stomach for a few days. Yeah I know they can't give anything for virus espeically to very small children because cough medication can't be give at all. I'm not worried everyone always thinks I worry when my kids are sick but I don't because I know they will be okay they might feel like sh!t for a while but it'll pass in its own time. yes I know it's common with babies when they get shots they get a fever for a day or two but he had his shots Tuesday like i said and it's now Friday and he is still has a fever he has even started coughing since yesterday and now sneezing. He is starting most likely getting what his big sister has. I know how long fevers are suppose to happen for when they get vaccinated since he is my second child now and not my first.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's sickness, I just hope she gets well soon. I know the feelings if our kids our sick, it's good the doctor had known the cause of her illness. Now her doctor can prescribed the right medicine. As for your little one, having a fever after vaccination shot is just normal. I knew his fever will be gone in no time.

It's a virus so it's not and illness just a bad cold and there isn't anything they can give for that at all. All the gave us was some antinasua medication so that she could eat. Upper respirator infections are virus so it's a totally sucks when people get them. I had one two weeks ago and it took me 3 weeks to get over. With my son he had his shots on Tuesday and for 48 hours is as long as any child that has shots should have a fever for he has had one for more then 2 days. It's not been 3 days going on 4 and he still running a fever and coughing and sneezing that has nothing to do with his vaccinations at all.

Well to start off id like to say i hope both your little ones are feeling better by Christmas. I know how you feel though because my one year old son had been sick almost up to 5 times this year so far and just got over being sick. I thought he had pneumonia but he had bronchitis mixed with the flu. He is finally starting to feel better but it took him a long time to get out of his system. He has respiration problems before he even got sick. He has had problems with his breathing since he has been born. I really hope the best for your kids and hope they enjoy there Christmas along with your family.

Yeah my daughter doesn't get sick that much she is pretty much had teething colds up till she had a stomach bug over the summer and then of course in October she had the same thing as she has now. It sucks since nothing can be really given to her. My son is starting to get what his big sister has even though they don't share anything. He isn't getting hit as hard as she is.

Thanks, I hope she feels better soon as well. I would love it if both of the kids are feeling better by Christmas. I'm just doing what I can by giving her something for fever and giving her the anitnasua medication so she can eat.

Sorry to hear that. I am not actually familiar with that kind of sickness but I hope they will be still getting well soon. It is really hassle to have sick during Christmas. I've actually experienced that already though that was New Year and I can't enjoy the holiday because of my sickness.

I was once sick on Christmas a child. Upper respitor infections is just a nice way of saying you got a cold which are virus in which nothing can be given to really make it go away and especially with little kids under the age of 6 there isn't much that can be given other then just toddler or infant fever reducers. This isn't the first time she has had this. This is the second on this year and they are no fun to have at all.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Oh my goodness, i feel so bad about your kids and i know as a mother u and your hubby must be very much worried about them and that is pretty much obvious. But i would like to suggest u not to get worried and have faith on the Almighty and such illness can happen with anyone at any point of time. besides i cannot understand why u guys were made to run for your daughter's illness and the illness was detected very late also. Now since it is detected i hope she is getting proper treatment and do not worry she will be alright. Now your little one will also get OK within few days, just take good care of your two kids. What say?

I'm not worried. I don't worry easily.. In fact that fact that my daughter isn't in the hospital that means she is fine just really sick with a bad virus that will works it's way out of her system. I don't believe having faith or believe in God will help at all. One it's not an illness she is sick with a bad cold. There are many different types of cold and there are not test for colds and doctors only work off of what is going on with a child that can't tell you what is wrong with them it can be very hard for doctors to know what is going on other then what the parents see. So that is what doctors have to go off other wise they would be sending kids to the hospital all of the time for just silly little colds unless they can't tell for sure. There is no treatment for virus there isn't anything that can be given to anyone. You ride it out. Virus don't have antibiotics to give. If I was worried I would have said I'm worried and scared for my child which those words have never came out of my mouth. I share what goes on in my kids life to every one in mylot because a lot of people here have been throw both of my pregnancy and like to see and hear about my children.
