Freshness is the need of the hour for Indian cricket

We have seen enough of Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman and of course Sachin. Time to look beyond these gentlemen. Freshness in Indian Test cricket can bring Indian cricket back on track. Freshness has to be start from axing God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar. Shedding some work load from Dhoni by stripping him from Test Cricket is yet another vital step towards freshness. This can bring new zeal in even Dhoni's performance. I'm not taking of bringing Rainas, Yuvrajs Sharmas in the team. We should look into our Domestic cricket and select some brilliant players(technically skills or may not be) who are making runs with a great consistency over two three seasons. I'm sure there would be atleast 10-12 players who have been scoring runs heavily in Ranjis. They can be roped and should be given chances. Same apply for bowlers as well. There are quite good spinners as well beyond Chawla and Mishra . Pacers may be also there. But we need to see entire season of Ranjis which I think no selectors see. A thorough assessment by all the staff governing Indian cricket and some ex-players like Ganguly can help a lot. Tough decisions and freshness can turn the things around. Freshness and zeal to do for India can be seen in ODI cricket where there are some exciting ODI players(Rainas, Kohli's Dhoni's Rahane's) . But the problem is that these very players have not performed in tests. So we are only left with bringing some exciting players from Domestic to Indian Test side.

I agree with you but you cannot just axe all the senior players at once. It is really important that they groom the youngsters while they are playing and prepare them for the future. India has got real young talent in the shape of kohli, raina, pujara, ashwin and much more. I think people are being really harsh on Dhoni. He is a brilliant captain. He has great confidence on his players. It just a bad patch for him. Every one has forgotten that he won two world cups for India.I think sehwag, gambhir, zaheer should really be care full as they can be dropped any time. For sachin i don't think any one needs to tell him when to retire. It should be totally up to him. India should be keeping their eye on Suresh Raina as the next captain as he is very calm under pressure and doesn't really have discipline issues.

Nobody can tell Sachin to retire, but Selectors should have the guts to axe him from team if he is not performing, which, he is not performing for one and a half year. If Sachin can grind in domestic cricket to come back in form and knock the doors of Selector, than that is a different thing(which is impossible). He is there in the team for his massive contribution to Indian cricket. Post world-cup he is just struggling, struggling and will continues to struggle.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Yes u are absolutely right, but if changes are made suddenly then it wont augur well for the Indian team. They definitely need some time to adjust and may be then they can come to their winning ways. I know induction of new fresh and talented players is the need of the hour but i think there should be a balance of both experienced and young players in the team at the moment. What say?

Hey subhojit10, Balancing the team with both young as well experienced players are quite important and this is the reason why the selectors are much worried to sweep out the whole players and introduce the new players. In some instances senior players plays a quite dominant role. So the changes could only be bough slowly. Anyway I am quite sure that no one will stay consistent in the team because each of them has a good as well as bad time. So changes are always must and should be done

I think it is the time to bring some new changes to Indian cricket team. I felt there there is a need of a very drastic change in the the test team. Those changes include, Dhoni must be replaced from his captain's place for some matches. So that we can see his talents in the test cricket and make sure the presence of him in the test team. i don't think there is no need of a big change in the ODI or T20 squad. If the change is necessary I would recommend a change in the bowling section. New pace bowlers must be introduced and this is what I felt. i don't think there is a need of change in the spin section because there is Ashwin,Ojha,Harbajan,Rahul sharma and many others. I felt that the change in the section will be much difficult.
