Have you ever sold on Amazon?

I know that there is an "online earnings" section but I didn't think it was appropriate for something like selling on Amazon. I have been big on selling on eBay for the past couple of years, but I just started to sell some of this semester's textbooks on Amazon and I wanted to share experiences with you all as I am relatively new...And I am not 100% sure how it works... I have sold a total of 3 textbooks so far. For one, MAN they make the required shipping time out only like 2 days --- you have to RUSH to get to the post office! Do your ratings decrease if you don't get to the post office to ship the item within the 'shipping period'? One of my books is already a day late in being shipped as i was stuck in the house being sick all day yesterday.. . Another thing I noticed is MAN do they take a lot of commission out of what you've earned! I sold a book for $20, and $3.99 shipping (which I screwed up on, as the shipping was actually around $8 when I actually shipped it, with delivery confirmation), and Amazon took $4 or $5 out. That seems like a huge chunk. That leads me to my next question -- I always see used books and CDs and DVDs being sold for ".01" on Amazon, I have even bought a few! So what you do is pay 1 cent + the $3.99 shipping. How on earth do these users make a profit off of that? I am so confused! The good thing about selling my textbooks on Amazon is that someone bought them, all but 1, right away! I did put them for the cheapest price so that they would get the attention of the buyers, though, so maybe that helped. Ebay has a sister site that I believe is called "Half.com". Considering how I am selling textbooks, is that a better site to try to sell these on? What have your experiences been with selling on Amazon? Good or bad?

I have never shopped on Amazon, mainly because I don't like the fact that they don't accept Paypal. Most of the earning sites I use pay me through paypal,so I just go to ebay and buy things I need.I have looked over there a time or two and it looks like most things on Amazon are cheaper than the things on ebay. And alot of the sellers seem alot less 'scammy' if that makes sense.

i neevr tried to sell something using amazon also because it is true that commissions ar really high for sellers and so in amny cases i don't know if it is a real deal using this site to sell your items may be as you mentioned in your post there are other sites where you can sell but you can earn more because commissions are better than amazon or classic ebay too!!

I have never listed anything for sale on amazon, but my daughter sells her texts that way. She seems to like it better than selling the the local bookstore. Also she buys her texts on the site and says it is a whole lot cheaper than the local college bookstore. I have a nightmare experience with my first attempt at purchasing on the site, but the chat and email and phone assistance from them was pretty good. I was able to finally complete the purchase and they gave me an additional $10 off because of the difficulties I encountered. I have never used ebay or known anyone who did, so I have no idea. I am going to look at the half.com site though because I have never heard of it.

I have never tried to sell on Amazon, but i have the idea. I have heard that Amazon is better than ebay. I am trying to sell ebooks, and to make profit, which i would not have to worry about shipping. Merry Christmas

hi maezee, I have been selling stuffs in amazon for a while and I love it way better than ebay because from my four years experience with them I never have anyone scam me. I tried sell on Ebay before but I guess ebay just wasnt for me I got scam buyers many time. I know some people might consider ebay than amazon. It just wasnt for me I guess. Anyway, in my experience with amazon in order to maintain our rating since amazon only give us max 2 days to ship the order, when we could not make it for some reason I contacted the buyer and let them know if the shipment would be little bit delay and let them know that they could cancel the order if they are not happy with the delay. This way the customer have choice whether or not they still want to keep the order and won't flag us with bad rating for late shipping.

I have never sold on Amazon but sold on ebay for years and it got so people want things for a lot less than their worth so between that and rising costs to list I haven't done it in years. I also have heard of half.com and never bought or sold on there either.

I have never sold anything on amazon. I have on ebay which you can take as long as you need to get something in the mail. But I like shopping on amazon because most of there prices are cheaper then that of ebay and some stores including the shipping and handling.
