Christmas Eve Snow - Beautiful, renewing snow. It can't get better than this.

My entire family has had a very bad year this past year. It was bad literally up until last night. This morning I heard that we may get snow. Well, it's true! We're having one of the most beautiful snow storms ever. It sure has renewed my faith and my spirit. Is it snowing where you are or is snow expected today or tomorrow? I've posted an early photo of today's snow but will update it as it gets more beautiful. What renews your spirit after it has bottomed out?

Oh, that is beautiful!!! No snow here but we have a little remaining from the big storm we had on Friday. Which is just as well because I'm going to my cousin's house for Christmas and that involves a lot of country roads that are usually not treated or plowed much! However, we'll have snow on Wednesday or so they say. I had hoped to have moved back to Arizona by now so I'd be with my sons but when the time is right, God will send the right person to buy this house. It gets me down sometimes--I love it here, I love my house, but I miss my children. And I know this sounds petty but out of all the Christmas cards I sent out I got exactly 2 from people I know and love, one from my realtor and one from the Salvation Army. When I'm down, which isn't often, I write down all the blessings in my life and see that I have no reason whatsoever to be unhappy. It really helps. I say a prayer of thanks for each item. And then there's my dogs, who always make me laugh. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Hi, Hatley! I do not like Arizona's heat and dull colors, nor the lack of real trees. But I love my sons and realize I belong with them. I am so glad that your son is employed and sheltered! Things will be better someday. I hope you have a joyous Christmas!

Beautiful - This doesn't look like much but we actually got around 4 inches of snow before it ended last night. My dogs LOVE it. They love going out on the deck and frolicking in the snow. Then they come inside and melt all over my floors. lol
Hi dragon! I'm tossed between wanting warm weather year-round (I know it gets HOT in Arizona) or staying where we get snow each winter. The older I get, the less I want all the trouble that comes with snow but then I see again how beautiful it is and I'm glad I'm where I am. Of course, my plans for Christmas have had to be postponed now until, hopefully, this weekend. My son (who had the WORST of the trouble this year with losing his job and ending up in the psyche ward of the hospital) just started a new job and has Fridays and Saturdays off so I'm hoping we can have our get-together this Saturday. However, the weather dudes are all saying that tonight through tomorrow night we're going to get hit by more snow/sleet/freezing rain and then again on Saturday. So, it's all up in the air at this point. I'm not disappointed, though. We can get together any time. PS - My son is SOOOOO much better now that he's on an antidepressant. He was diagnosed with clinical depression quite awhile ago but stopped his meds when they had a negative side-effect that most men would hate. I think he now understands just how important they are in his life. Merry Christmas!

We are supposed to get snow, and I have not looked out since I have been home. I will go peek and see. I can see how you feel lifted up by a wonderful storm. . . one year when we were first married or maybe even dating, we went into a nearby town to shop and have dinner. It was a fall evening and warmish. We were seated by a window and were eating a great steak dinner, and here, out of nowhere came huge white fluffy flakes. It was fun. What lifts my spirits, I am not sure. I know that getting to do something creative, and finishing it, is really great for me. Having a day completely free of obligations is a great lifter for me as well. Learning new things is a blessing as well. I am glad that your snow storm is falling like a blessing on you and your family.

That's awesome! They're predicting snow here this afternoon and tomorrow, but it hasn't got here yet I guess. We haven't had any for a long time so I'm hoping and praying we get it for Christmas. It's been a long, tough haul for many this year. The New Year gives us a chance to find fresh inspiration and hope.

Indiana weather predictions have a way of changing frequently, but the last report here is that it will begin snowing on Christmas night and the day after that will be like a kind of mini-blizzard with high winds and accumulation of between 2-4 inches. A wonderful day to nibble on holiday goodies, read, and write...

P.S. ~~ My mom and I have also had a challenging year, but things are looking up for us in a lot of ways. Even during the worst times, we generally looked on the bright side. I'm so glad that things are turning around for you as well. The purity of snow is like a new, white piece of paper just waiting to have positive thoughts written onto it!

We'll be lucky if it doesn't get too hot... I hear it might get up to 70 today... I guess I'm just a bad person, but Christmas just doesn't do much for me. I don't really want presents, I just really want to be mostly left alone... I've done my family Christmas already, I just want to hide from all the "spirit" around...

um um,we don't have any christmas, only the spring festiual.but ,more grow up more lonely...

Hi Hatley! Merry Christmas! I'm so glad that you have your son and friend Nelda. Family and friends are so important in our lives. (Well, MOST of our lives... I'm living with one who thinks that Christmas, or any other special day for that matter, should be spent alone. I ignore him for the most part.) I truly hope the day comes soon when you're able to get into an apartment with your son again. That's my wish for you. It got so cold so fast around here that I've been worried about a repeat of two years ago when we had a grand total over over 8 feet of snow for the season. I definitely don't like that much snow! Now, for Orson, I kinda like that typo. I've had too many "mentalwars" in my head to count.

Rain for Snow - Fred the frog with an umbrella.
Stop being so selfish with your snow and send some over to the United Kingdom. I can not remember the last time that we had snow at Christmas. We will swap you one inch of rain for one inch of snow.

I hear that my new neighborhood gets snow sometimes. Haven't seen it yet. It is a few hundred feet higher than the old neighborhood, and we saw a little snow on our property one year, and not too far up the hill another year, so we'll see.

My year hasn't gone too well either. I'm not sure what it will take to renew my spirit. So far nothing much has happened that is uplifting. We had a little bit of snow flurries yesterday and a little sleet. None of it made much of an impression. I think a good snowstorm might be a good thing. I don't know why but seeing all that powdery white coming down does seem to be cheering.

Hi mentalward! Amazing how a spirit can be renewed by things you don't expect to renew it. I am glad you got that when you did. The weather here has been exceptionally warm until this week..it feels more like Christmas now. I think we may actually get a little bit of that snow but it won't be until the day after Christmas.

Seeing that snow would raise my spirits too. I just love the sight of falling snow as it is such a novelty to me. No snow here ever, not even in winter, but definitely not at the moment as we are in the middle of summer. When I feel down, I like to get in nature somehow all alone and just enjoy the natural scenery while clearing my thoughts of any of the negativity. This always works and I can then return home with a refreshed mindset.

I think that every one of us will consider the past year dissatisfactory. And I also have the same feeling, especially my work condition is not good enough for me.But I was just graduated from my college and don't have much work experience,so I still need to stick to my work.Yeah,a snow can refresh our mood and spirit.Beside it,I feel that knowing a knowledgeable man and then having a pleasant conversation can also refresh me.

I have also had a rough year. I live in northern Colorado where there are a lot of fluctuations in temperature. Well for the first time in years it snowed on Christmas Eve and we actually had a white Christmas this year. I took this as a message from the angels that things are going to get much better.

No snow here! I think everyone should be happy and celebrate Christmas. We're all going to have bad times in our lives that has completely nothing to do with the holiday, so what's a little more trouble if you're to be united with your entire family? Some people don't get to see their family year round, and holidays are the only time they do. Make use of it, you might regret it one day. Make things happen and you'll always find yourself having a great day, right?!

I'm glad you are enjoying the snow! I think we are supposed to get some tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. And usually when we get snow it doesn't really stick. I hope that your Christmas day will be blessed and full of good things. You deserve it.

Snow storms huh? We get snow now and then. And a wind. I doubt we will have any snow on the ground for Christmas day but the kids are all older now anyway and playing in the snow isn't something they do anymore. We have snow in the mountains and it is pretty to look up and see it. What renews my spirit? My grandson coming and wanting a kiss and whenever he comes upstairs he says he loves me. He's a dear. When he wants to be ofcourse. He has ODD and can be quite a challenge at times.

Hi MW! Happy Holidays to you and yours! We are "supposed" to get a "coating" of snow tonight or tomorrow just in time to make it a "White Christmas"! And there isn't anything a NY'r loves more! We've been lucky so far as snow storms go. We had the "Holloween Snow Storm" and then that was it. I can't deal with the cold weather and people ask me why I don't go South-I always give the same response~ There is something special about watching the snow falling from your window or standing out in it while it's coming down! I don't ever want to give that up, no matter how old I get!

It is cold here at my place too. I searched in the Internet and found that Virginia is about 37( degrees ) towards north, and my place is about 31 degrees North. It is common to have more cold when we shift more towards the north pole. I can see the snowfall here also but on the top of the mountains which are at height of about 2500m from the mean sea level. How is the geography at your place? Is it plain or mountainous?
