Malaysia

I don't know what happened today but I seem to have forgot ALL my password to all the online site that I joined i.e Youtube, paypal, online dress website etc... I have different password for each site, and I usually don't write it down. But I might have forgotten because some site requires me to change password ocassionally, problem is I never written down any of my password. What would you do? Do you write down your username and password and keep it somewhere?

As for me I will keep all my usernames and passwords in one of my private e-mail inbox, and at least I will always remember the username and password for this e-mail. And regarding to your problem,I think you need to contact the admin people then they will ask you for some information and if you can satisfy their needs, they will give you the username and password back.

Sometimes. if I make a new account, I'll write down the pass, repeat it to myself a few times and then get rid of the paper. I can remember all my login for all my accounts, and most sites have a way to retrieve that information should you forget it.

Hi chi2nasrin, to avoid the same situation happens again it's wise for you to jolt down the new passwords changed in somewhere that is safe. There isn't any other convenient way I suppose. I'm not good in remember passwords with combination of both numbers and letters. For the safety purpose I prefer to take some troubles to jolt them down and then save them in two different thumbnails for further reference if needed I don't save in phone to prevent someone would get them if my device get lost Happy posting and Merry Xmas

It's very true that it will be a high risk to store password in the cellphone. There is a high probability of losing our phone easily. It will be safe if the same phone number list is written in mini daily or notebook

I told my colleague and she told me that she store all her password in her handphone, because her handphone require a passcode to access also. But that's just what I thought... what is her phone is lost.. then all her password will be lost also.

I always record id and password in the browser, except the payment processor. I will also have backup's data, so if forgot or lost then copied back.

I think I was scared that people might log into any one of my account and do something bad, or read about something that I said with my friends in chatroom... I don't mean to say that they are dirty conversation but maybe some secret that I don't want other people to know. I decided to jot down all my username and password, but it way that only I can understand. I just hope I won't forget what I wote down.

Hello Ohh.. Forgetting those password can create some problems. May be your mind is diverted to some other issue. Personally even I don't used to write down my passwords anywhere. And yes even I am using different passwords for different sites. Yes there are few occasions on which I did forget some passwords too, but on one or two try I get them back, so no major problem faced so far.

I am actually using 5 Passwords and just one or two user names. Most of my email has the same password but I never write. I just saved my user name on my file and a hint of what my password is. For example, my username in my lot is Chiwasaki, I have a notepad that my password there is Y****0** This will remind me of the password that I am using for that site. I am not sure if that is safe but I think no one can guess it as it contains numbers and letters which is not so related to me.

Maybe I should change all my password now, and use only one password. One that I will easily remeber but hard for other people to guess.

I never write down any of my id or password. Usually, I will stick to three user names. As for the password, the characters and numbers is the same, only the permutation is different. In the event I have forgotten, I just have to try the different sets.

Well, that's a pretty good idea as well. When someone stole your password then they will not be able to use it everywhere then.

Hi, I use to write down every username and password for every site but having encountered the sake problem as yours, I took the idea of using only one set for every account online I have. In that way, I don't forget it. So far, it worked fine for me, I can log on to any account I have by typing the one I use everywhere, no problem with lost username and password.

I really should have done that. But I am worried that if somebody with bad intention got my password then he/she can access to every site account I have. talking about paranoia. now some of the site such as one online dress seller, have to contact the admin to reset my password, I have to wait until that person is online in Yahoo Messenger then only I can do so.

No, I dont keep my password to somewhere else. I used the old fashion one and more safe to be used. I am using index card to keep the important details of my online sites as well as my email. I never use the remember my password system. Because there is no more safe in this world.

I have encountered tat problem too many times. I don't know if it is in the connection or what. There was one day I tried to log in on my yahoo mail and then when i entered my password it was wrong, I tried it many times but it won't work. My password is all the same from facebook and here in mylot. I was mad at that time and tried it again on the next day then it worked! hmm I am just curious what happened with that.

A method that I teach my computer students is to have one general complicated password. The password should be strong enough on its own. And then everytime you use it, you vary it by including some type of descriptor of the site using some type of system only you know. It's helpful if the descriptor is relatively short - like 4-5 letters. For example, let's say my basic password is (and it's not) CrDV$#st*91ry87%Tx. This particular comination has no meaning to me and uses a variety of letters, symbols, and numbers as well as both upper and lower case letters. It would be hard to decipher. I could write this down somewhere if I wanted because with just this, no one can get into any of my accounts. Then I create an account on myLot. I keep a list of every site that has a password associated with it along with the descriptor I use if it's different than the site name. My password now becomes CMrDYV$#Lst*9O1ry87T%Tx Without knowing, no one but me would know all I did was add the word MYLOT to my password. It's just spread out in a designated fashion. Other than that, it's the same password. The password for my email account would be CErDMV$#Ast*9I91ry87L%Tx All I did was add the word EMAIL. When it comes time to change your password, decide ahead of time what type of global change you want to make. You could change the basic password, you could change the descriptor, or you could change the way the descriptor is spreadout throughout your password. When I need to give a password, I need three pieces of information. Two are written down and one is in my mind. I need the general password, the descriptor used, and the method of distribution of the descriptor. This is much easier than it sounds.

I have encountered that problem too many times. but i learned know a days , when im going to sign up on different website or creating a new account I open my notepad and write the information including the username and password . Just take note make sure that you are the only one using your PC to prevent your account secure or make sure that you save the notepad that your the only one know where it is make it hidden.
