I know something most people wouldn't be happy about. I have been trying since I got Max & Gizmoe to litter train them. But it just seem like it was usedless, I have kept the pan in the cage, and with shavings in. They normally use it as a bed, or I throw their veggies in. I got this neww paper shavings to try from work the other day. I put it in their, and I looked today when I was feeding them breakfast and someone pooped and peed in the box. I was so happy, I am leaving it there and hoping with the smell they may keep going back to that box and go.

I don't think hamsters or guinea pigs are smart enough to learn to use a litter box. My kids always had one or the other when they were small their cute but not very smart.

Wow! obviously you didn't do your research, small animals are very smart. All mine learn tricks, they can understand everything I say and listen. If most likely you didn't give them time and day to allow them to leanr this. It's sort of like me saying your kids aren't that bright, they are pretty useless.

Must be something in the air... Harmony finally went back to using her litter box instead of insisting on going outside. I guess she didn't like going in all that snow.

I think she only used it once, maybe twice last winter but now that we have some serious snow, she's thought better of it.

I think they will use it, if they have too. My parents use to have a cat, who was a stray. He would go outside, and use the garden but never the box. Finally in the winter he stepped outside, and turned around used the box and never went outside again.

That's great that one of the two of them has decided to use the litter box and I hope that is something that will be the start of a new trend for them. I've never actually had small animals so I have to admit that I really don't know a lot about them. The thing that I remember is that my cousin used to have a guinea pig when we were younger and I know that her guinea pig always just used the entire cage as a litter box and they had to clean out the cage on a very regular basis.
