I have to work, 10am - 530pm so I will not be going. Yes, I did hear all about how ungrateful I am, and how I can;t even show up for my brothers party. But I know later that night I will be getting a call to drive all the drunks home. He will be 31, and we were just ordering his cake. His wife invited a few of his friends, her parents, and my family to go as a surprise party. The place where they got the cake, they can puta picture ontop. So in their sense of humour they have a picture of him drunk, and past out ont he floor. The girl when they called was like umm are you sure this is the right picture.

Not being able to go to a party doesn't mean that you don't love him, it just means life happens and you can't say "sorry work I can't come in, my brother's birthday is today!" That is one weird picture to have on a cake...

They don't work most of the time, they work very very little. So for me working literally 7 days a week, they think I'm odd, and I should not go to work for his party. I offered to go to the party after work, but they told me not to bother.

Um... how is that ungrateful on your part? You have a lot of responsibilities and you can't just forget about them. Did you know before now that they were throwing a surprise party for him or is it a last minute thing? I would have questioned the picture, too. That's a really weird picture to be putting on a birthday cake.

I was told about it yesterday, so was everyone else. But noone else works on weekends, or any other shift than the day shift. I told them I am not giving up my shift for them, I need the money.

Yup. Your whole family is one class act... If you're not adopted, maybe you were switched at birth? Or how about your mother having an affair with the mailman? You can't really be related to these people.

Oh my gosh that is kind of awful and hysterically funny that they would put a picture of him passed out cold like that on the cake. I think the reaction of the cake maker makes it even funnier lol. I hope they ate least save you a piece of cake even though they think you are ungreatful.

My Grandma might make them save me a piece. But it was pretty funny how she asked it was the right pictures. I told them I have to work and I am not giving up not paying my bills to go to some party.

I always think that it is really hard when we are not able to go to the birthday parties of our family members and for me personally, it was really hard on me when I wasn't able to go to my brother, sister or mother's birthdays because I was working. However, I do have to agree with you that working is more important than going to our family members birthday parties. With that said, would it be possible for you to have gone to the birthday party after you got off work, or would something like that have simply been too late?

so now you are expected to take the day off for a brothers birthday? Not. Man your family sure makes things hard for you there. I need to bring you here, put you to work. And live the good life. Have a great weekend there...

Well work is more important then a party gotta make a living some how and your family should understand this. Their some greedy people by the post that you have been discussing on here. First it was your brother that turned 18 they didn't like you had to work then and now with your brother? Whose next? Well either way hope they have fun and enjoy your day at work.

Sometimes work is more important and you couldn't afford not to go work even if it is your brother's b'day. Still i recommend just wish him and give a small gift maybe. As gifts are always welcomed and it give a sense of family and happiness. I just hope you drive safely with full drunker's in your backseat of your car. Give ma regards to your brother.
