I have NO creedence here....BUT, I am pained lately of the discontent I am reading, shan't we (in the spirit of the season) just be "thankful" we ALL have different view of perfect! So many discussions maligning ... so many discussions painfully brutal, disregarding the timbre and beauty that has brought this community together...sorry friends, it pains me!

You are not all alone dear big sis and I join you on this one. I have come across a lot of discussions which have made me feel that the world is moving towards the "pain", "grief" and such feelings. What disappoints me is the fact that many people are so carried away by their sadness that they have almost forgotten that this is the season of celebrations, enjoyment and being thankful. I do hope that like me, these people start to see the better sides of the pain and whatever that bothers them as I do feel that whatever happens, happens for our own good and we must always be thankful for what happened could have been more severe. I personally have went through that stage of sorrow and it was only after I survived those days(or should I say months), I realized and learned to value almost everything that I have - my pains, my happiness, my life... With the new year

When I detect a really downer post, I usually skip it completely. If there are people who post mainly negative, I try to only respond to the ones that are positive. I know that the perpetual negativity can bring us all down. I appreciate the fun and upbeat and unusual posts. I also am aware, however, that some people have really painful memories that surface at this time of year and I try to be patient with them. I have a few painful memories from this time of year, but I refuse to put them out there. So, hopefully, in spite of all the bad news and sad events all around the world, we can still find beauty and hope and love.

Hi ambie, I can think of one, and it is like the world is conspiring against her. I tried to do something to cheer her, and I have never even heard back if she received it. I think she needs more help than we can give. pergmmano, I am so sorry your monitor burnt out. I know it takes extra effort to get anything to your island. I saw one post that many people took as negative that I read as tongue in cheek. Then the person tried to apologize and got ripped up as well. I think both of those discussions got removed. I also know two or three people on here who sound very acerbic, and I just have to choose not to get upset if it is directed at me, and then also to step in when someone appears to be a target and try to deflect some of the poison. It is so easy to get out of control online.

I gotta ask because I've thought about this many times. Over on Gather there is a woman whose every post is complaining. She's had a hard time but lord have mercy there are people worse off on Gather than her. But by her posts you'd think it was raining fire on her head. I think you know who I mean. Am I the only one who just wants to tell her to count the good things she has? Like a roof over her head, food...?

People on mylot were being that bad to you? Check if you want to see if they are on my friend list. Because if they are I'll delete them. That's just not right. You are a sweetheart and a generous person. You're worth ten times what those other people are.

Ambie...dear heart...I obviously was venting..but I really hurt when persons were being so MEAN...Gosh, it is the season, and I was feeling good about myself, I had just made and delivered 19 little dishes of Xmas cake, shortbread and mince tarts to the ladies and gentlemen at the only OLD age home, here on Galiano, and I come home to my computer..and people are being mean...it hurt.

Words of wisdom my dearest Shirley! Life is hard and we all struggle to make it day after day, but I always try to remember that through my darkest hours..it can be worse. Smile for the sun rising in the distance and live for the day that some have lost. Look for the rainbow, for goodness sakes, because if we don't...well...what then? Why hurt others to feel better for a moment about our own status when making someone feel appreciated will last a lifetime? Perfect is like beauty..in the eye of the beholder and just because it isn't the same certainly doesn't make it any less perfect or beautiful. Feel no pain friend because in times of darkness it is people like you that are the rainbow.

My dearest Jen...it seems ages I have corresponded with my "rainbow girl"...and I do think about you being so engrossed in you being the best "Mimi" in the world, and how exciting your world must be! And I do know that your schooling/work and family are the soul of your world! My stinking monitor packed up..just before Christmas and just after I had spent all my resources (incl. contingency fund) on the holidays! I find the cooking supplies eat such a big hole in my budget..really! When you are paying 49 cents a pound for a "Jenny O" turkey, I am paying $1.99..three times as much! And of course, this was my year for Christmas (my son comes home every second year)so all his favourites had to be made...and the 29th of December is his birthday. So $$$$$$ just flew out the door...and I am proud, I did not use Credit Cards this Christmas! SO...the NEW Monitor had to wait, until I got my head above water...hence NO myLot! And then, I actually was so far behind, I forgot to revisit old discussions. BAD me! Never liked the number 13...I think it's Murphy's Law's favourite number! Now, I am busy depleting my "rainy day fund" again...as my little dog "Brui" has some mysterious malady. Even tho' I have one of the best Vets going, and reasonable, in the last 10 days..I am minus over $1000.00 ..not including Ferry fares, and the down time to go to another Island, where she is located! OH well, I just have to take on more work.. But to go along with my discussion...I just received a phone call for work! Need to brush up on my cooking skills again..and there is quite a difference between Line cooking...and home...LOL! Miss you, my girl! BIG HUGZ!

Hiya pergammano, Although we are two months down the road and out of the Christmas Season all I hear around me are complaints. Complaints from the ones in this house and outside of here as well. If only Christmas could be every day of the year because it looks like we need to conjure up that kind of goodwill feeling towards each other much more than usual. Very conflicting time for this country and I never once hear anyone say that they are grateful for anything. Some have very good reason to feel bitter about their plight but its all those that have much more money that are the most negative of all they only feel sorry for themselves I am just thankful to have made it through Christmas could not afford to buy the cheapest tree and it has pained me much not to buy one but I have managed to get through it all even so in spite of all the problems that have cropped up. I am singing away to myself just trying to be as happy and as thankful as I can for whatever turns up.xxx

YES, two months past...and only 10 months 'til! Egads! Re-reading my "rant", I certainly didn't articulate very well...but there was such an underlying current of unrest...it seemed! I think I wanted that discussion to be some sort of inspiration to people..but it wasn't that! I guess, rising from nothing...even tho' I still don't have much, I am just really grateful more than anything, for the blessing of the GOOD spirit that I feel, not the possessions. I am thankful for the strength to be able to rationalize thru the problems of day-to-day...and be grateful that I have those abilities! And thankful for the fact, that I am given the ability to really, really enjoy the free things in life..like nature! I am truly sorry for those downtrodden, and do my best to give them a leg up..but I do find many enjoy (or seem to)wallowing in misery! Thank you for taking the time to re-visit an old discussion..and responding!

Hiya pergammano, Egads yes only another ten months to go so this time I am putting bits of cash away for my tree and all that stuff. I thought you expressed it very well. Just enjoying the look on our DogĀ“s face because he has heard a Woman singing Opera and I was imitating her the look of surprise on his face is something you cannot buy. Is your Dog Brui much better now then? Me too I try to help out where I can as well but it seems that if you have a bit of extra cash here envy is rife sometimes. One was commenting today their dream was to live in the most elite part of Madrid they considered themselves very fortunate to be able to pay such a price for a tiny apartment which I thought myself horrendous surrounded by blocks of concrete all day long no trees only traffic lots of that some have got their ideas wrong but who am I to say that they are wrong. Very conflicting day today but have managed to get through it not with flying colours but to the best of my abilities which I suppose is something. Oh I have answered some that are up to four years old sometimes. I love Christmas and you pay a lot for your turkey from what I can see about the same as here too.xxx

Well, it is interesting as to no matter where you are, in here, on Facebook, in real life, there will always be people that tend to disagree on things. The thing is how you deal with things that really is the key. When you learn to not argue, flame someone, etc. you are better off, and yes, no matter what a person is going thru does not mean you are better than them. If more people around the world would only try and put themselves in the other people's shoes and think about what if it was them, and how would they feel there would be a lot less problems for sure.

I've seen quite a few discussions on this subject lately. I wish we could extend this spirit of good will and gratitude into the rest of the year. Sometimes we are so overwhelmed, though, that the good in life is off our radar. We here in the US are particularly curmudgeonly as our politicians are giving us a good scr$wing and they didn't even bother to kiss us first! I am watching a show that I saw a couple of episodes of in the late 80's with Carol O'Connor as a police chief. I saw one the other day that had a line in the end that has really stuck with me. As he sits down to eat his dinner he prays, "Thank you, dear God, for this time of abundance." I thought about that and have repeated it many times since. This is a time of abundance in all things if we'll just stop, shove the worries of current events aside, and look at our lives and all the blessings we have.

We need to be looking at the big picture, although we cannot deny the sadness, grief and tragedies in our country and India and all the other places. I think it is important to focus on what we wish to have or achieve. I like your quote about being blessed in a time of abundance.

I want to post more opinions everyday especially when I received notification that one of my friend posted a new discussion. Volume of opinions I want to share to others but time do not permit. We experience turbulence last month due to super typhoon hit our place. Better, it didn't hurt to any of my family and friends.

SOmetimes people just need to happy for the little things in life. Too many expect so much and get so little. I think if they just are happy with what they have then they might be better off. And want for more in smaller incraments. To want too much too soon without having to work for it breeds contempt.

This is a place to unwind. Topics that vitiate the environment are best avoided. At the same time there are some who look for such topics and wallow in there! To each their own perga....There is something for every one here. But you and I can ride in the boat....." Row, row, row your boat, Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream. " How was the ferry ride?

Sometimes I think there is a barrier to people understanding different points of view. I have noticed here a bit as well. I like to think "it takes all kinds to make the world go round". I love to listen to others and learn new ways of living life. It is amazing how many different perspectives there are in the world. I am not a seasoned my lot user but I do hope people can learn to appreciate differences.

Thank you...I really am NOT agressive..but it hurt me, the comments I was reading yesterday.. AND with big HUGZ, I welcome you to this community, not that I have the right, but thoughts of "simple kindness" are the building blocks of tomorrow. YOU are special, please stay and be the base!

Oh I could sense the frustration, not aggression! Social sites can get overwhelming at times. I am not sure exactly what you are referring to from yesterday but I hope it gets better. I love simple kindness... My favorite times are simple acts of kindness :) I love to be positive and keep things in perspective. I hope we will share many more discussions here as I will be spending some quality time here :) Thank you for the welcome, it is a great community and I am glad to be a part of it!

Hi dear pergammano, I have been here almost everyday. But most of the time I've got less time reading. And so I've been missing some of those discussions. However, I know definitely that painful and brutal discussions will be here all year 'round. Let's just wish that they'd refrain for a while on posting such and in the meantime, be happy and enjoy this season. Let's welcome the New year with smiles, happiness and loads of hope for a better future
