For new years eve and day I decided like at xmas to stay open. Iopend monday at 5am, and wills stay open till 6pm new years day. So far Ive been open 24 hours here. Business has been great. Unlike xmas time, many have just come in for coffee and tea and leave. At xmas, many were on computers here 2-3-4 hours. buts its all good. Im glad for the business. Ive had 2-3 hours naps so far. Im ready to give my brother a break here. Happy new years to all here. See you in 2013

Looks like you made the right decision to keep the cafe open 24 hours. I'm sure you could use all that business. Do you offer wifi to your customers that come in for tea and coffee? Like a starbucks or Caribou Coffee shop? We have a coffee shop like that here. It's a flower shop, coffee shop and they also offer wifi for the customers. I have applied for a job there, but have never had coffee from there.

Keeping a café open for over 24 hours must be a very demanding task for someone running a small business, as opposed to the large national concerns that can organise a realistic staff rota system. especially with a constant flow of customers which will disrupt attempts to prepare for the next period of activity. I am pleased to hear that the endeavour has been such a success because at least you will be appropriately rewarded for the effort required. The main plus factor is that at this time of year the customers will tend to be in a very friendly state of mind, which does make the experience more enjoyable.

I noticed in your original post that your brother was with you and helping to run the café, but it is still a demanding job for the two of you to operating as a team. As for my New Year's Eve, I stayed at home and watched some television along with spells on the computer between programmes. It was quite a pleasant evening so I was happy with it.

So this time your brother is there for you to help. Thats great I hope you have cashed out new year successfully. Is there a large difference between christmas earnings and new year's one ? May be you should give some discounts on these special occassions. That can really help in attracting customers.

Hello mariaperalta. Happy New Year to you. I am glad to know that you have continuous business in your cafe twenty-four hours non-stop. It is a good business you are doing, but it is really a hard job to work that long for those customers. Make sure that you have enough sleep for more energy in your work. Take care, friend.

Looks like you've had a pretty successful 37 hours. Sometimes it does take a little extra effort to make the customers happy. You might even try that during a few other holidays throughout the new year. But having the cafe open for 24 hours every day of the year would not be all that great because you will have so much more overhead costs. What you are doing for some chosen holidays is just fine.

Happy New Year, Marìa! I had a wonderful party with my closest friends and stayed over to sleep at their house. .they invited me later to go to one of their daughter`s house for a New Year grttogether, but all I wanter was a nap, so they brought me home. I am just waaking up and starting with mylotting. I`m so glad you had a good day as costumers go. Maybe you can save part of that to go sometime to visit your son.

Happy new year too. That was great. They say, customers are many if the business are open on new years eve and in Christmas, but in ordinary days is not the same as holidays.

It must be really interesting to have a cafe. I bet you get to observe different behaviors of customers. It's uber diligent of you to work on New Year. Most of the establishments here are closed because of their New Year celebration. It would have been nice if all business owners are like you

That is a lot of hours to be open for business. I am sure you were exhausted after all that time. I would guess that on New Years eve more people were out partying then on christmas. I hope you had a great time and enjoyed yourself. And I am very happy for you now that you had that procedure and feel much better. Happy New Year Maria.

I always like it when you talk about running your business, and wish you well for the New Year, too :) Tim Hortons franchises are *the* place to go around the holidays over here; a friend of mine gets a huge bonus just in tips when working there.

Hi maria. Well now that I imagine it might actually feel great to have a place where people come and chat over a cup of coffee. In fact I think you get to feel the real festive mood as many people go to cafe on holidays specially during festivals. And as I always say that I admire you for the hard work you do. Anyways have a nice day ... -=SuperShames=-
