Do you have a special meal you cook on New Years Day that is a tradition for your family? I always cook blackeye peas, cabbage and cornbread. Blackeye peas is suppose to bring you good luck and cabbage is for money. I grew up eating this for New Years and so did my husband so I always cook it every year. My kids and even my grandkids will not eat it even though I cooked it every year while my kids were growing up.

We do not have a special New Years Day meal, though it sounds like a fun family tradition. I could eat everything there except the cabbage, well I would probably choke it downI will eat cole slaw which is really the only way I will eat cabbage. I love cornbread. Yum.

Fried cabbage is something I have never had, but it does sound interesting. I wouldn't fry it with bacon since we don't eat meat, but what else do you fry it with? Do you use any other spices? I might be willing to try fried cabbage.
