are you still working even at home?

January 2, 2013 7:53am CST
the ideal is to rest when we get home but when urgent things are needed, whether we like it or not, we are working at home or our mind is still occupied by our work.. I feel so stressed and so I tried to read a few pages. I think it lessened my stress. How about you mylotters, do you do the same or what do you do to manage stress? Hayy mylotting!

When home becomes workplace or workplace commitments spill over into one's life outside the office, life becomes really demanding and stressful. Avoiding this happening is the first preventive measure. Reading is great fun and a wonderful stress buster. Doing things which require physical exertion is another option.

i agree this is especially difficult for people who have family and children are very young. But people who are still not married get lot of lot to spend on other works and many of them utilize it.

I am a woman and a mother, which means I always have to work. I have no free day off, no vacation, no holidays.

Yes,I have to do many things after my office hours.I feel tired then and need rest.Still I would like to tell you one thing.Doing your office jobs is one thing and doing your household chores is quite another. The former is stressful. You get mentally tired while doing them.Doing household chores is physically tiring, but it often relaxes you.At least,I feel so.My mind gets relaxed while doing my household jobs.

Life is hard !We need to work and work , reaching home doesn't mean rest .It still about work and work . It's not a choice but a compulsion. We need to save , we need strike while the iron is hot ! We need to let ends meet. Rest will just be around , if we have already save that much and some task and project are realize.

Sometimes when I am busy with work,I would go on working when I go back home.Coz I want to finish it soon so that I can do anything else freely and do not think about it all the time.I feel stressed out as well. But I think we'd better manage our time properly.Usually it takes me eight hour to sleep and eight hours to work, and then eight hours are my private time, which could not disturb by something related with work.So now I try to do some reading or enjoy the movie in the evening when I finish the dinner.Or I would access mylot to join some discussions.Like now,lol

When I am having my holidays at home, I still work on my computer for the work in the coming week. I love to do some work at home during my holidays as it can help ease my work when the coming week comes. I don't mind working at home on the computer. Thanks for the discussion, jfo. Take care.

In present China, if you do not want to lose your job someday in the future, you have to work overtime at home. As a teacher, I have to learn new things and prepare my next day class after arriving at home. I now find I have to work more than 12 hours a day, even including the weekends. Poeple here are frustrated with the situation, no one want to be left by the time, living in a hurry. I do not want to do that, but people around me force me to act in that way, even my parents. My mother wakes me up 8:30 in the weekends' morning, and asks me to reading books and articles to improve myself. I feel that I am living as a machine.

when i was still an employee, i used to bring some of my paper works at home. as i want to lessen some of my workloads that i need to do the following day. however, the more i do it, the more work i need to attend to. as a result, the stressed that i feel in the office extends at home. so i have changed my ways to avoid that. i have decided not to bring anymore paper works instead. but now, i am not a desk job employee anymore, hence, i need to do work at home since this is my base job. so even i don't want and don't feel working, i still need to move on to do my task and earn.

I read books mostly. For some reason watching movies and TV series doesnt help me get rid of the stress, after I finish watching the stress just comes back. Playing video games helps a bit too, so does playing chess or poker (not for money though). Of course, aside from books, physical exercise is the most effective way for me to get rid of the stress.

The way i try to manage my stress is to listen to music and it makes my soul so relaxing, there is indeed somewhere that anybody can't touch and you have your own favourite thing to do.So that's can make my day.To think about something that is really positive.

I've got three jobs, my offline job, my online job, and being a mother. Sadly the last one does not allow me to have day off. Have a nice day!

We cannot program our mind not to think about work. I think we should try and manage that it does not take over our lives - at home, or at work.

Came back from work ,I usually not willing to do things related work.I often wacthing TV, or playing online, sometimes I do physical exercise,I also like eating some snacks.I think that working is endless, thinking too much will make you become very agitatedly and tired. But most of the time working at home is involuntarily. If that sort of thing is too much ,you can discuss it with your colleagues or leaders to change the mode of the work, or tell the clients when is the work time and rest time. Wish you happy!

In my opinion is hard to separate your working life from your "after work" life. there is always something on your mind that buggs you. There are those who can disconnect at home but only if, as you mentioned, they read something or wath TV or go out with friend. It's healthier if you can leave work fo work time and enjoy the rest of the time without thinking at work. Try hard and you will succeed eventually. Work is mostly a job paying for your life, not something that has to take over all your life.

Since I am retired and don't work outside the home, doing work at home, becomes commonplace, as if I ddon't do it, it doesn't get done, as I am the only one in my ho9me. I don't do a lot though, just the main things that need to be done, like cleaning, laundry, and dishes. I can take my time doing all those things those, since i don't have anyone else to account for. I would rather be here in mylot thatn clean, and in fact, I have let the leaning go many times to be in here. This is just to much fun, and work to me is drudgery, and I don't like it, but then, there are lots of things in the world we don't like, but we have to do them anyway. Take care, and have a great day.

I am still working at home after office works. Not office works, but things that must be done at home- like cooking, washing clothes and others. I am a working mom with three kids and I don't have a househelp to help me with house works, that's why after office hours I still need to attend house works whether I like it or not. But- that was till last year...now I am a full time mom and only works online for part time and extra earnings.

I am an avid writer. I like to write good articles all the time. But whenever I need rest I take a short break and take a stroll in the road. Then I come back again and do my job.In this way I can rejuvenate much better and concentrate in whichever work I was doing.
