Another demoralizing defeat for Team India

India
January 3, 2013 10:11am CST
After the heroics of M S Dhoni in the first ODI against Pakistan went in vain, Pakistan defeated India again to win the series. Indeed it has been very frustrating year for Indian cricket. I think all the players need a very serious break from cricket. Things aren't going India's way at all. And now there is Australia in the wings too. What are your views?

Hello, I think some thing is bad in Indian dressing room. Top order crashed badly. Only Dhoni struggled. Gambhi, Kohli, Sehwag all are failed. I think nothing is bad in giving chance to Rahaney, Pujara.

I absolutely agree with you. It is a chance to test the bench strength. Rahane was there earlier, but he can be brought back now. At the same time, Rohit Sharma and Pujara should be given at least one chance in the next match. Either way the series is lost. It will be a good time to see how the reserve players play.

I agree too!!! It's now time to watch new players play the game. There are many hidden talented cricketers in India. I thing the selection board should really consider make a very genuine decision too.

Hello Abhi It is too much frustrating for sure. Everything is turning in the reverse way for team India now. They are losing almost all series. Hope this losing streak will be down soon. I have one thing to say here. Dhoni is good with his batting. He can play in both style. Slow and fast. Now its shocking that why he is not promoting him self. He should play at one down or at 4th position. He is surely not player which should come at 7th position !!!! He can play long innings, and we already have nice finisher like Yuvi and Raina...

You are right Anand. India is either leveling the series or losing them Where's the win? I really can't stop laughing when I say this. But at the same time, I really feel sorry for all the players in the team. They are tying their best. But success is eluding them. What's their fault in that? I also feel sorry for Mahi. The poor guy is giving more than his 100%. What more should one ask for. I totally agree with you. See when he came in to bat at no. 7 in the first match, he went on to score that magnificent century. So, I believe, he is capable of handling the situation. Even in the last match, he scored a half-century. So, you are right. He can pace his innings however he wants. Then why not promote himself and take more advantage of the overs? A batsman like Dhoni coming in to bat in the lower middle order looks odd.

Let's hope that the team management looks into this seriously, especially taking into account the runs he has scored in the last couple of matches even when he was batting lower down the order and in difficult circumstances.

Yes Abhi.. Surely it looks odd. He should promote himself. Batting at number 7 is like wasting his talent.

Yes, certainly this was a very big defeat for team India and with this defeat we have also lost the series. Two consecutive series loss will be a demoralizing fact for the Indian cricket team. Lets hope for a win against Australia.

I was exactly going to talk about Australia when I read half the response and Australia appeared in your response towards the end. I think, India will have to really really play some outstanding cricket and will have to forget that luck plays its part in cricket. They have only themselves to blame for. Its more than one and a half years since India won the World Cup and there have been more of losses, some of them literally humiliating. India don't look like a team that won the World Cup sometime back. India are said to be unbeatable at home. Even stronger oppositions have found beating India tough at home conditions. Beating Australia will not be easy at all. It is easier said than done.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes u are absolutely right, the year has started on a pretty disappointing note for the Indian team and i think its high time that something tangible has to happen with this team. At least we cannot expect our own team to loose at the home ground. it is unfortunate to see how we are not even giving any competition to other teams. What say?

One of the best thing to happen to Indian cricket was M S Dhoni. He gave India not one, but two World Cups. Let us not forget his contribution to the Indian cricket. But I think for him personally, he should hand over at least the ODI captaincy to Virat Kohli. I am sure he will feel the most relived man in the world. Only Test captaincy would be far better for Dhoni. He will also perform better in all the formats if that happens. He will have less things to bother about and that will be a positive sign both for him as well as for Indian cricket.

Yea India was really disappointed. I was counting on them to rebound and win this one. But as I said they are on the decline and Pakistan are on a upward trend. Most of their players have mature now. Plus they have a few fast bowling talent unearth. Pakistan is the team for the future. Australia and Obviously South Africa are the teams that are there.

I think at this moment any team can beat India. It should not take only England or Pakistan or any other stronger team in the world. India is at its lowest point and there is no hope of expecting a win every time India plays any match. I think it is a matter of time before India will come back strong. And what better time than against Australia, if India can.

Its really frustrating for cricket fan that the so called super star of Indian cricket have surrendered themselves in front of Pakistan team and accepted another defeat. The top order again collapsed and didn't give the start the team really expecting from them. The middle order also followed the foot marks of the openers and was looking in the mood of hurry to return to pavilion.Dhoni only played for him to maintain his average.Team was not looking united at all.If they will play the way they are playing now I don't think they can even beat team like Kenya and Bangladesh.

The meek surrender is what the fans don't like to see from their icons. The same is for cricket. If there is a fight and the match goes down to the wire, then it is understandable. That is what the fans like to see. But I don't think Dhoni played for himself. He has never been selfish at any stage of his career. See, we should be more mature here. When the players do not perform, we throw brickbats at them. And when someone plays, we say that he is playing for himself or to save his average. Isn't it too much for the players to digest?

The year has started with a loose for the cricket team of India. Anyway India has to keep their hopes on the way and along with it a good performance too. Dhoni has managed the team to help India to a good score. This loose is due to bad performance of indian batsmen. Every hopes for wins for our team and lets hopes the same. May our hopes come alive.

Hope is what keeps the world going, my friend. That is what we can do at the most as fans - hope that things do not get in such bad shape for the team when they face Australia. I, at the moment, see a very sorry picture of the Indian team facing the Aussies. I don't know what to say if India continue their disastrous performance in the forthcoming matches too. I am lost for words currently. I hope the team gives something for me to speak after the positive result after the third match.
