Can we have unlimited friends in mylot?

I have never deleted any friends from my friend's list, even though some of them are not active any more. I don't have too many, they are only 120. But there are always new members here and I add new friends frequently. I was wondering if there is a limit to how many people I can have as friends. Also, I was wondering if you go through your friends from your profile and see who of them are active or not. Personally, I wouldn't delete any friends even if they are not active for a while because I know that they might come back soon, I took a break for a while as well but when I came back I stayed for good! Do you make a selection of your friends in mylot every once in a while?

As far as I know, there is no limit to the number of friends you can have (MyLot is NOT like Facebook or Twitter!). I believe that there is a natural limit to the number of people one can successfully have in one's circles of acquaintances, friends and intimate friends. You can see this in operation in many societies - cities, towns, villages, schools, clubs and so on. It seems to be possible to have a 'nodding acquaintance' with only about 300 individuals at any one time. I would like to keep my 'friends' list at about this level, since I don't believe it has a great deal of meaning otherwise. It is considerably more than twice that at the moment, unfortunately, so, every so often, I try to go through it and cull those who are not active. If they happen to become active again, they may always, of course, add me again. I try to choose my 'friends' carefully and only add those who seem to have the same interests as me and have some activity shown on their profiles. I do not tolerate spammers at all and if anyone abuses the PM system by sending me spam, I will report them immediately.

That's true and I think that only a few of my friends are still active here. But I want to keep them for a little longer in case they come back! I don't like receiving spam messages either, it happens with new members sometimes who come to promote their links without reading at the rules first. That's why I am waiting to see their intentions before responding to their friend requests. If they are willing to participate and become active members then I will add them!

Yes in any situation not just in mylot but in daily life, there should be unlimited number of friends. Friends come and go, some friends stay some friends just vanished. It is normal and it just natural, though good friends stay forever and like stars they are just there whenever you needed them.

And some friends leave and come back after a long time. We have all of those moments in real life, that's true! Thanks for your comment Mavic!

I think between the two of you, you've covered every aspect of friend's presence (or lack of) in our lives. Now I'll tell you about the different kinds of friends you can have. First, their are the friends that.....just kidding! That type of list would be waaaaay too long. And I'm going to bed in a few minutes. All this mylotting is wearing me out.

Sometimes when I see a lot of new people over here, I start adding new friends. I might add 10 friends in one day for example who are active and then I just accept my friendship requests when I have some. I like it when there are neqw people around and right now I only find new discussion alerts from 5 friends maximum. This means that I should start adding again! It is nice that you help new members over here! I had never thought it this way!

Hello No I don't think there is any limit in making friends. You can make as many as friends you want available at mylot. Personally I accept almost all friend requests. And never delete any of them. But yes if someone try to keep spamming through pm( like sending unwanted links and pms ) even we don't know each other more, then I will delete them for sure. So all are welcome except spammers.

2000?! It's too much! It probably needs a lot of time to reach this number and many of them would be inactive, but it's still a huge number of friends!

There are spammers sometimes indeed. When I have friend requests from completely new members I am waiting for a couple of days and chek their profiles to see if they have started being active, before adding them. If they come in to post links on discussions I don't become friends with them. But otherwise, I accept all of the requests when I have some! I have noticed that other people don't do that though. I have at least 10 pending in my profile! Have you ever met a member who has a huge number of friends?

Hi friend, here we can add a lot of friends. I am not interested in deleting friends, however if some persons sending spam messages to me, i will delete them from my list. Here we can organize our friends list. I don't select friends in mylot, most of my friends requests are incoming one and i simply approve them

That sounds nice! I have incoming requests when I am very active here but other times I don't have many! :P From time to time I do add friends and in fact I have realised a couple of times that there are people who interact with me a lot and I am not their friend yet! So I make sure to add them!

They add me as well, but when I realise that my old friends are not very active I might start adding people that are active here. I also add people with common interests in the discussions (not in the interests section), or when I like the way they write!

I like finding e-mails from the friend's started discussion, I usually go through them before doing everything else in the site. That's why we need to add new friends regularly and keep up with the new entries!

I think it is a good thing if we have a friend which is very active in mylot so we can take part in his/her discussion and he/she also can response in our discussion.

Albeit the lack of limitations on how many friends you may there is are practical limits beyond which they would lose value. The main benefit of having friends is that you can easily monitor the discussions that they create, therefore adding friends that tend to share the type of discussions that you find appropriate would improve your chance of finding them. In theory you could actually end up with every member of Mylot on your friends list, but this would simply place every discussion in that section. The same scenario would apply to interests. There is no ideal number of friends because it would vary according to each individual, but we must all have an optimum level that would produce the best results.

Having a large number of friends wouldn't be practical for my e-mail either, I would have to stop receiving e-mails for the new discussions! :P And you are right, the number of friends we can manage effectively is different for each individual. I would prefer having a few more active friends though, I think most of my old ones are not coming here any more.

There is no limit as to how many friends you can have here. I have quite a few myself, but I do go and check them periodically to see which ones haven't been active all that much. i do delete the ones that have been gone for a few years. Maybe I shouldn't, but I have so many freinds that it really doesn't matter. I sometimes will check wo starts fdiscussions. as well. but mostly, I will just start posting when I find a discussion that I can respond to. Take care, and have a very good day.

Thank you for your comment! Only a few of my friends start discussions now, som of them used to be active but now they are gone. It is good to go through them every once in a while, especially if you are a memeber for many years! I couldn't remember who posts and who doesn't if I had too many friends! Have a wonderful day :-)

I agree, being in mylot is great! I was wondering if the number of friends is limited based on the site rules like on Facebook for exammple. From the majority of the responses here, including yours, I think that there is no limit! Thank you for your comment!

I think 120 friend is more I knew some members send friend request we accept their request and add them to our friendship list. But after sometime they never turn back here or in short we can they become in active here. But many times it is very difficult to judge who is active and who is not active. As I have seen some very old member had return back after some month. I think there is no harm as such to make or accept friendship of other members and add them to our friends list.

I have seen members returning to mylot after a long time as well! I did that myself a few months ago! When our life gets busy we re-set our priorities and then when things slow down again we can have some extra time to go online! And it is difficult indeed to know who is active and who is not, especially if you have a lot of friends!

hello there. you right that here in mylot we can build lots friends list after long time it must be there is person that will not active anymore for any reason but it's ok if we dont deleted them from the friend's list. as long as they dont make spam in our profile right? besides may be, who knows one day we can make real friend in real world when we visiting our friend's country, may be for travelling. we can ask suggestions great local foood, hotel, or great placed. what i see that we can get tons of positives side from here, just dont be spammer or even by bot.

I like to keep my friends as well! But I am afraid that after some time I will not be able to keep track of my active and non-avtive friends if the number is too high! I am not deleting them for now though!

I have been here for neary one month. There are two reasons I delete my friends from the list. The first is that someone always keeps sending me the spam message. And the second is he/she keeps posting all night long but never interact well with others who's commented on his/her post.Interation is the most important part in mylot.I love interaction with all of you here.Thank you for this sweet topic and when I am free,I will stay here always. Have a nice day,and it is so nice to be your friend here.

I think you have done the good thing by deleting those members who use to send you the spam messages, even I have deleted some members like this. To tell you frankly I do not accept anybody's friendship easily specially new members because some new members do join here and after some days they leave the site.

I don't like spammers either! But I am excited to find new topics in the morning when I log in to mylot. When I wake up, I check my e-mails through my phone while I am still at bed and if I find something interesting in the discussions I reply immediately! Sometimes I don't get a response for my comment but I am still happy that I have given my opinion! I feel excited when I get an answer though and I think that we should all have in mind that the constructive participation is based on interaction as you pointed out here! Thanks for your comments, have a nice day!

haha! I feel the same and it is nice to see old friends come back! But how can we know for sure? Also, I imagine that when you have so many friends it is harder to go through all of them and decide!

Well, even if I do not have full certainty, I do not think of Mylot, there is a fixed number of friends beyond which you can not exceed. However, I also have many friends, most of them are inactive. It is easy to know if your friends are active or not, just look at the number of ranking. If it progresses means that they work, otherwise they remain parked here. For example, I've noticed that many people my friends, they stopped at a rank below 10 and no longer go ahead. Sometimes I delete them because I think (or I'm sure!) That they have completely abandoned Mylot. Too bad for them!

I guess that when the number of friends gets high, it's not easy to keep up with the rankings etc. We can never be sure if they will come back at some point and that's why I hesitate to delete them! I would like to have more active friends though because many are not posting here any more..

I guess it is harder to manage too many friends if they are all active, but I would like to have more in my profile! Some of the old friends that I have are currently inactive.
