The back of my neck hurts from the computer..

I have been sitting in front of my laptop all day. Because I was tired from last night that I was out with friends wearing high heels, I didn't keep a good posture while sitting on that chair. I was more relaxed and lazy all day. Now I am going to bed and as I was stretching my body I realized that my neck hurts when I lean my head towards the back. I definitely need some rest and I should take small walks every time I have to sit there for long hours. Does it happen to you sometimes, to get up from the chair after many hours and realise that you had been sitting there for too long?

I think now you know the bad affects of a bad posture. It can make you really bad in your body alignment if you do this mistake again and again. Don't keep sitting on a chair for such a long time, in bad posture. If you can sit in a good posture then that will improve you back strength but as you told that you sat there whole day then I am sure your posture was not good. So it is better to not repeat the mistake again. Good luck!!

Hey sanjay! Thanks for your advice! I know it's not good to sit with bad posture, it will give me long term problems with my back! But sometimes I feel tired and not in the mood to sit straight! lol

That is true sometimes, we feel tired and it is hard to sit straight because our back muscles are not so strong to keep it straight all the time. The harm it pays is the bending of our back bone which can degrade our posture forever, so the other option when we are tired is to either take a brake and wander here and there, or we can just lay down on a bed or a sofa, to relax the muscles. I also think that sitting for more time in straight posture can strengthen our back muscles too, with practice it can become quite strong.

This must be true. When we sit straight it does strengthen our back. When I was taking yoga classes, I found it very hard at first to keep the back straight throughout the whole class. But then when I started gaining strength, my back was straigh all day and I didn't even try it. I should start yoga again! :P

You have to exercise your neck, arms, and legs too. You got it from sitting using the computer. From time to time you stand up and wiggle your arms, head, and legs. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, I should do that! But the time passed very quickly and I was feeling lazy to take a break and go out for a while. My only break was to the balcony and back, when I wanted to look far away if my eyes were tired.

I have the same condition with you. The back of my neck hurts after a whole of work in front of the computer. I tried to do some massage in the hospital, it helps in some way. I think you need to exercise your neck after one hour of working.

You mean exercise by doing circles and stretch every once in a while? This is what I usually do, it really helps! Thank you echo! Have a nice day!

Neck pain can be caused by inappropriate working posture. It takes me more than seven hours to sit in front of the computuer. When finishing work every day,I usually feel painful where it is located in the neck area. The muscles in the neck are tense, sore and feel hard to touch.I think we'd better do some intensive muscle training regularly. Take good care.Have a nice day.

Thank you! I think that stretching also works for a while but it needs training as well. It usually happens when I am in front of the laptop all day, if I have to work at the office and then coma back home and sit at my laptop again, then I will have pain before I go to sleep!
