A gentleman, a gay, or a snatcher?

"Forgive me, I did not intend to think anything bad about other people. It was accidental." I was on my way to work. Because of the coding scheme, my husband was not able to bring me to work so I have no choice but to ride a passenger's jeep. It was not my trait to pass judgment but I know you will understand how I got into thinking many things about somebody. As soon as took my seat on the PUJ, I gave my fare to the driver. Passenger jeepney seats in the Philippines are designed where there are two lines of seats and the passengers are seated facing each other on the opposite line. I noticed a guy with a comely face, younger than me. As I said before, I do not have the habit of staring as it is not polite but each time I turn my head, I take a glance and noticed this time that he's just wearing a sando or a sleeveless undershirt. It got my attention. The guy was a hunk (not necessarily a very large man with frog-like physique with muscles everywhere bulging ) and he wears maong (denim) pants tattered on the knee and on different parts. I noticed, too, that he was wearing a sort of outdoor shoes. Hmmm... I was thinking that's cool. All of a sudden, I noticed the bag on his lap. I was shocked to realize it's a woman's bag with a long shoulder strap, with rings on the sides attached to each other that serves as a design. It was colored light brown and it didn't look anything like a bag for men. A dark violet jacket was on top of the bag but not entirely covering the bag. It got my attention more and it got me staring at the back not at the guy anymore. The guy seemed to have gotten conscious and went to hold the support bar as if to conceal his face. Believe me, it had me thinking why that kind of bag was with him: 1. Is he a gentleman who was asked by a girlfriend to bring her bag, or by his mom or sister? 2. Is he gay that only looked like a hunk? There are some that do look like they are (no offense meant). 3. Is he a snatcher? He got really conscious when I started staring. My friends in the office were laughing when I told them this story, and I just could not resist thinking about it. It really puzzled me. Just sharing funny moments. Do you have one to share?

I see, hello there! I'm from the Philippines too. I understand that we get those kind of moments since we get curious about people we get to ride with on a jeepney sometimes. This is a funny discussion you have here. It's hard to determine with so little facts and details. We don't know the person and we can't judge them by their cover. I have not seen the person so it makes it harder for me to identify the correct answer. If he was gay, there would be subtle signs that he is. He'd likely flick his hands or rather poised when he sits. I notice this a lot in gay people. They have this auro about them. Anyway. I don't have an answer. Sorry.

ERRATUM: * as soon as (I) took my seat * it got me staring at the (bag) not at the guy anymore --------------- hey! how are you? it was really a funny situation for me because it got me puzzled. the questions were not meant to be answered actually. you have to see the person to be able to say something. we have different perceptions. no, he did not flick his hands. he was not poised when he sat. he totally looked like a hunk! that was what made me puzzled all the more.

Hmm, sounds like an interesting guy indeed! haha, I hope he isn't gay. There are gay people who look and act like a guy, but actually have a relationship with gay people. Thanks to this discussion, it prompted me to write about a character in my story. hahaha!

Things are happening quickly in our country, Philippines wherein gays seem to be confused on how to mold their identity. Others just pretend they are girls despite the fact that they have to conceal the circumstantial bulging of their lower front. Not quite a few have stepped up to wear mustaches and looking Macho but with others not completely giving up their female bags and under wears. The one you encountered might be one of them. If not then you cam upon someone weird.

i really do not know. i have gay friends but i do not discuss things about their preferences with them. i think it's kind of an evolution that some gays do not look like gays. oh, that bag! that presented me this weird scenario.

I think he is number 1, a gentleman who was asked to bring that bag. I just eliminated the other two choices. Here is what I came up to. He is not number 3, a snatcher, I don't think he will still bring the bag with him. I think snatchers just look for valuable things inside a bag (as soon as possible) then throw the bag away since it could be an evidence of their wrong doing. He is not number 2 either, a gay who look like a hunk, I think he would not be shy about the bag if he is :)

Well, a lot of gay men do work out and build up their muscles, so who knows?

I don't which scenario is more likely. But in my opinion, I think it would be the first one. Because if the scenario was the second, it should be a coordinating outfit. If many women are conscious of their clothing, the same care should be given to the accesories. Even if it's not a really out gay person, things must coordinate (or in my mind at least). I have is taken gays and straight people because their outfits are so convincing and their presence is the opposite of what they are. I don't think he is a snacther because he dresses well. I think he might have formed in his ins=d that you see him as gay unless he's the type who gives back a murderous Look (which I hope you didn't receive).

This is difficult. You will never know. I hope that you will see him again one day. What if he is then without a bag, but gay? Will that confuse you more? Haha!
