A winter wedding!

I completely forgot that I had a wedding this weekend of one of my childhood friends. She met this guy about a year ago and they are just head over heels. I really like this guy, too, he's VERY nice - and he can put up with my friend who can be QUITE overbearing, which is good. I have never been to a winter wedding. Have you? Her colors are black, silver, and white. She loves winter and has been an avid snowmobiler... Living in the suburbs of Minnesota, this is not too uncommon. I don't know why, beyond that, she chose a winter wedding. Personally...I find winter a bit depressing. But to each's own. I was talking to my sister, who is also friends with the bride (and is a brides-maid), and we were discussing what I could wear. She suggested a dress. I laughed. No, Thank You! - I don't do dresses. Beyond that it will probably be about 10 degrees outside. Why subject myself to that kind of cold in a dress? I asked if I could just wear a pair of NICE (dark wash) jeans with a nice top or nice sweater --- I thought this was completely reasonable -- she said no, and so did some other people I talked to. Apparently any kind of jeans is a no-no. It's a Catholic wedding if that means anything. What would you wear to a winter wedding?

Instead of jeans why not a pair of slacks, like dress paints. Those you could pair with a nice sweater. I think the point is this is sort of a formal thing and jeans are a big no-no when it comes to formal attire. You could also try a long skirt with thick stockings to protect you from the cold. But of course the wedding and reception will be inside so you won't have to worry too much about the cold.

If anyone were to show up to my wedding in jeans, they would be turned away at the door. Wear a nice pair of black dress pants or a long black skirt and a nice, solid-color sweater or dress blouse with a zipped-up cardigan over it. I like winter weddings. I had actually considered a Valentine's Day wedding, but that isn't such a good day for a wedding anymore.

i would love to see a winter wedding. I bet it's gonna be fun. Oh your friend motif is nice too, it complimented the color of the winter. I do have friends who did their weddings on winter, but since I live faraway they did not bother to invite me. hahaha. You can do the dress actually just don't forget to wear a nice fashionable coat too.

A pair of jeans with a nice sweater are out of the question. It's a wedding and your apparel should be elegant-classy. I suggest you wear a dress(even if you don't like them, you are just going to wear it on only tris occasion), or a nice black costume composed by a pair of black trousers and a shirt. It's more in a wedding style.

Try wearing a pair of nice black dress pants with thick tights underneath. Maybe a nice silver top with an open black sweater over it to keep you warm.

The first time I got married it was in Feb and we actually had a snow storm that day. My maids wore a beautiful cranberry color and looked beautiful. Of course jeans are a no no. I would wear a pretty dress or pants suit. It has nothing to do with religion but celebrating the marriage of your friend in a respectful way...no jeans!

I personally would never wear jeans to a wedding. You can just put on a nice pair of slacks and a cute top. I guess being that it's in a church jeans are a big no no. Cute top and slacks are just fine

Yeah I have went to a winter wedding before. One was in December and then I went to another one that was around Thanksgiving. They both were very nice. Our wedding was in November but it there was no snow or anything so it was nice. What about wearing some black dress pants with a dressy top. I think something like that would be appropriate.

I LOVE weddings and I haven't been to a wedding in a very long time. I have never been to a winter wedding. It sounds like it would be a nice idea. I like summer weddings, though because you don't have to dress up in all that winter gear. I would just wear some nice dress slacks and maybe a pretty sweater, maybe a lighter shade of red or blue to go with the winter months.
