So I did the School Run and then...

completely changed my day. I dropped the twins at school; this is their first day back at school from the Christmas vacation. As I was walking towards my car I noticed a beauty/spa business exactly opposite the school. So I left my car in the car park and crossed the road and yes, they could take me for a mani and pedi and the price was amazing. I always wear sandals and like my feet to look acceptable and I had not had a pedi for two months. So I had a wonderful time. So wonderful that I started to get sleepy like all the exhaustion of Christmmas/New Year/Family problems had surfaced. I called the Villa and told them I would not be coming today. I then called children to tell them that my phone would be turned off in about an hour so they were not to panic. BB'd same info to children living abroad. All the other chores could wait until tomorrow. Then I went home and had a snack and went to bed. Slept for a few hours too then watched a movie, and no, I don't feel guilty - just exhausted so need to rest. Have you ever just stopped and changed your planned activities?

That sounds nice. I have never been to a spa. Never had a pedi or mani for that matter. I can understand how the holidays can make for a tired person. I used to do all the decorating, cooking and present buying and wrapping. I was exhausted. ANd worked full time. Glad I don't have to do that anymore.

Oh my! That does sound nice. I would like to try that pedi technique where the fish eat the skin and it tickles.

I still have a part time job but had a guest too and so I have been exhausted - most of it emotional though. The cost is cheap - less than US$10. It is about the only thing that is cheap out hereand it is my treat to myself. Makes me feel so good and my not-so-pretty-feet look so much better

actually, i have been like that all week! i took Monday off of work as a vacation day and went to the doctors because i have been having breathing problems since Christmas and he told me to take the rest of the week off! it has been nice (i still am having some breathing issues though) but all i have done is read, sleep and watch tv (with a few light house chores thrown in). i am supposed to go back to work next week but still feel pretty lethargic so we will have to see. i also have to go back to the doctors too.

Well, I am glad that you got some rest but the breathing problems would worry me. Did he think it was small panic attacks?

So glad to hear that you were able to take some much needed rest!! You have got to be exhausted from all the stress. You did the right thing in taking care of yourself like that! I stopped and changed my activities just today. However, it was not necessarily my choice. We are having car trouble so I called a manager today to see if he could pick me up for work when he stops in the bank this morning. He was planning on doing that until he had a call from his boss. He had to cut labor hours today and guess who got cut? I was all ready to go, but it's ok. Lizzie came home from school today. She has been battling what we thought was a bad cold. I get the feeling that she actually has mono. She has a doctor appointment tomorrow. So, even though my hours were cut, we are happy that I can stay home with her today.

This has worked out well for you as you would have been so worried about her whilst at work. I am sorry that your hours were cut though. The recession is so bad out here too. Reduction of tourists from the U.S. affects our economy so much. Please God all countries will recover eventually. Many blessings my friend

That sounds really wonderful! I think that we all need some 'me' time once in a while. And this week, now that all the Christmas rush is over, is a good time to do just that. It's great that you were able to relax and rest. And I like it that you didn't feel guilty one bit. I haven't had to do any 'me' time in a while, but I think I'm due.

Not quite like you did! That sounds like a fun day.....although on Sunday I was going to clean a closet and put the Christmas decorations away...changed my plan and did other things like rest. I know what you are feeling...exhausted. I read alot on Sunday though...the Christmas decorations are upstairs out of the way but still not quite put away.

That they are not put away really doesn't matter in the long term. One day yiu wull wake up and put them away. I want to give me some time this year as I am still not recovered fully from surgery. The exhaustion is horrible. But feel good now

Sounds like you had a really relaxing and probably much needed day today. I am glad for you! My days never seem to go as I have planned them out to be, but they don't change as drastically as your day changed today.

hi cynthiann good for ypi as you have been very b usy and need a time to relax and pamper yourself a bit. I did not sleep well last night so I agave ib and crawled backin bed after breakfast b ut my small nap got broken up so tried to tough it out and about one pm feel asleeep here in my chair trying to mylot so took a nap and ju st got up.so perhaps I will not make much to day but figured my body was telling me something, lol I was going to really be doing a lot of mylotting but I could not keep awake,Sometimes after our early dinner I really become a whiz at mylotting so perhaps my days not a total loss. I did not make a dollar yesterday but eighty some cents as I had had another bad night. My doctor refuses to give me a prescription for sleeping pills as he claims they are all too addictive.

thanks I will try that as I have heard it does work as I get so tired of spending half the night awake like that..And I do not even need to get a prescription so will definitely try it. thanks

I am sorry that you did not sleep but your bosy is definitely telling you to rest more. You make so much money as I only earn cents daily - usually well under twenty cents! Have you tried Melatonin? It is a natural sleep aid and available without prescription. My doctor says that I should take it if necessary

How nice for you. Normally I don't have plans for myself, unless I'm working. I never really start my day with the intention of doing anything.. so when things pop into my head it's not really a change of schedule.

It's good that you had a day for yourself. With all of the stress you've been dealing with, you needed it. I do change my plans. Although, what is more common is that I don't really make plans. I tend to keep things fairly flexible, and I'm prone to wandering off to explore things that interest me.

Sounds like a perfect day. Always nice to take a little me time. Sometimes in the long list of things to accomplish in a day that one always gets skipped.
