One Day Walking + One Day Travelling!

Hi everyone! I've been inactive here for few days because of so many school stuffs and some things that needed more attention. I miss the place (myLot) so much! So grateful that I have no classes for tomorrow so that I can have time here! Haha I just want to share to you guys my "worst but best" 2-day experience this year. This is a detailed diary-like story so just read it if interested... Three days ago (January 8), it was the dead line or the last day to submit a certain requirement (animal teratology specimen) in one of my subjects in school. So early morning that day, praying and hoping, I started walking and actually avoided to take rides just to be able to ask as many houses as I can that can possibly have what I'm looking for. I went to pet shops, veterinary clinics, slaughter houses and nearby animal farms. I also contacted my friends and some people that could possibly help me with my problem. At around 5:30 PM, so far I found NOTHING! And the cut-off time was 6:00 PM! This really scared me and became more so desperate. If I fail to submit this requirement, I will automatically fail in this particular subject, and failure to this subject will mean an additional one year to my schooling! This was my biggest fear at that time. In fact,I already overstayed in my school and I really don't want another year to be added. Anyway, out of desperation, I continued searching but still found nothing, until I realized that I almost roamed around the whole town! At 6:00 PM, I was already losing hope but I thought maybe my teacher can still give me a last chance. So I went back to my school and talked to her and after some explanations and discussions, she end up giving me a one last chance! I was so very thankful and so happy but the thing was she gave me only up to 10:00 PM. I looked at my watch and it was I think around 7:00 PM already and thinking that it was already night time, I still thought maybe I can still do it. I was really praying that God will provide what I was searching. I went to ask and just ask and ask. At 8:00 PM, I was really so down and I am thinking of giving up, really there was no hope that I could find any. So I was thinking of telling my teacher that time to just go home and not to wait for me, and just give me a failing grade. Before I could message my teacher, I received a phone message that made me alive again! "If you are really desperate enough, just come to my clinic anytime. I have a specimen." This was the text I received from a veterinarian that was also a former student from my school. This put my aliveness back but that problem again was that his clinic is so far that it will take around 9 hours to reach his place, plus I will have to take two buses, and plus I've never been in that place before! I thought it is a risk to go to this place alone but it is my only chance. I decided to bargain again with my teacher. I immediately called her and told her my plan that I still found nothing but if she will allow me then I will take my trip right away to go fetch my specimen and just submit it the next day. Again, I knew I was asking too much already and that she has given me too much consideration but that was my only shot. So I just looked down and showed her my humility and to my surprise, she just gave me a "yes" and just like that! I was like what??? Seriously? So I went home, prepared my myself, and then I realized I never ate that day! I was just so thankful that a beautiful friend of mine was at my home that time so she prepared a food for me before I left. At 12:00 midnight, I started travelling and at around 7:45 AM, I reached the place. My friends came to meet me and even offered a snack. We had some little chat and at 9:30 AM (January 9), I started my trip back and at 7:30 PM, I reached my school. I called my teacher again and told her that I already have my requirement but she told me to just take a rest first, maybe she knows how tired I am. Today (January 10), I submitted my specimen and I expressed my thankfulness for her kindness and considerations. I attended all my classes today even though I was so sleepy.! Haha Now I can have a rest. It's so nice to be back! PS: I will be posting the details of what happened during the second day when I traveled. :)

I can't stand it. What kind of a specimen did you need? I can't think of anything that hard to find.

Now I understand why you found it hard to look for that specimen. Thanks God you had submitted one.

Savypat: Yes, these kinds of animals are quickly culled because they are of no value. These defects are really rare that is why it is hard to find one. Pahak: Thank you! I was really thankful that my teacher gave me considerations.

Haha Yeah! I actually spent almost 4 months looking for it but found nothing. These are animals with any inborn physical defects due to disturbances during the pregnancy period of the mother. Haha Examples are dogs with only 3 limbs, an animal with no ears, and the likes! Haha

Your hardship been rewarded. Don't forget to be thankful to all who extended their hand to help and support you specially during the time you are feeling no chances at all. That would be a sort of relieving situation after you made a thing that can possibly change your life in the future.

Yes, I really think that it has paid off. I thanked all who helped me, most especially my teacher who gave me chances. It was really a relief in my part.

Yes, that's what I also thought. She is actually one of my teachers who hardly give considerations to students so I really had a tough time talking to her asking for her kindness. And surprisingly, it worked!

I definitely do have to say that I'm glad that you were able to get your specimen for your class. However, I have to say that I see something in you that is similar to something that I saw in myself when I was a student. This thing that I am talking about is that you shouldn't have waited until the last minute to find the specimen that you needed for your course. You wouldn't have had to spend all this time walking and stressing if you wouldn't have waited until so close to the deadline to get your assignment done.

Hi! Thank you for responding here! Haha Yep! Lesson learned already! I actually spent like four months searching for a specimen like this but I was not that serious in looking for it. This is one reason why I ended up like that. This experience really thought me many things. After this I should be able to see some improvements in my self! Haha! Thank you anyway for reading my messed up story. I hope you understood it well.

Congratulations! I am so proud of you! The one factor that a student must always have is perseverance. What specimen were you trying to find anyway, that you can not find it anywhere near your place?

Hello! Thank you so much! I'm kinda proud of myself too. I agree that every student should have this quality (perseverance) in order to really succeed. She required me to submit any animal, except avian species, with an inborn abnormality or deformity.

Really tough! Chicken with three legs is very unusual. The common one is chicken having an excessive number of digits (polydactily), or having a split spur. No one would buy these kinds of animals because these are abnormalities. These are for lesson purposes I think, or maybe for display in the laboratory. Also for illustration.

Hi! Thank you for responding. I really tried to make my story attractive but I think it's not enough, though I think it's understandable haha. Thank you if you read it all. I forgot to mention that my teacher is very super strict, this made me more nervous and lose hope, so it's almost a surprise the she gave me lots of considerations. Next week is more tough because there's a lot coming but I hope I can handle this properly. Haha By the way, I'm not Chinese and I have no idea with that Lu Yi. How is that possible?

It is very interesting to me to hear how strict other schools are. What is your age or education level? Your teacher was good to you, probably because you were putting in so much effort. What kind of specimen did you need for this project and class?

Hi! My department is one of the most strict among all the departments or colleges in my University. Our teachers are really giving us a hard time that is why only few students finish the course on time. Most are actually being delayed. This teacher is I think one of the most disliked teachers in our department, so I was so nervous on how or what would be my best approach in asking her consideration. I literally begged to her and proved her that I was really doing my best. Maybe she notice that I was really serious so she gave me a chance. Haha! By the way, she asked all her students to pass any animal, can also be fetus, with an inborn physical deformity due to disturbances during the pregnancy of the mother. Examples are dogs with no limbs, or no ears, three eyes, and the like.
