We are now in the midst of the biggest storm of the year.

The storm that had been forecast hit us about 6 hours ago, and so far, it's living up to expectations. Most people are bedded down for the night and hopefully no one has to travel very far. I'm sure most roads are closed anyway. We have not lost the electricity yet and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that won't happen. The winds are expected to increase overnight could reach more than 100 km per hour. We have been told that it will be over in 24 hours or less. Thankfully, my flu is almost better and a neighbour has promised to clear my driveway when it's all over. Blessings.

I can't for one second imagine what it must be like for you to be in the midst of a big storm, the only time we had a massive hurricane was back in 1987 where it tore trees down, but I do recollect us not losing electricity over the period of the actual hurricane, before or after. Our greatest problem in our country is flooding, many areas have seen the river burst its bank and totally cut off areas and do a lot of damage to homes and there has been human life lost too.

Hi wolfie, Thank you for responding and yes it was a bad storm. It seems that most people were prepared and most must have stayed off the highways, since there were few accidents and these only minor. Sometimes we have flooding here but not in my area. Blessings.

Did the storm finish and leave your area? They can be so devastating at times. We have high winds right now and they are closing most of the main roads. I have driven in high winds before and it is no fun. That is great that your neighbor will clean your driveway for you. It is good to have a helping neighbor. Stay safe and warm.

Hi velvet, Thanks for responding and sorry it has taken so long for me to answer. The storm was a bad one but eventually passed without too much damage. A lot of people lost power but we were fortunate that way.It is great to have good neighbours - and yes he kept his promise. Blessings.

The weather in our place is comparatively good compared with that of the weather in your area. We do not have storm, but it had a few snowfalls a week ago and now it is sometimes cloudy and sometimes fine in spite of the cold. When it was snowing, our school administators organized some student cadres to clear the corridor snow in case it would not get frozen and slippery. Take care, Pose.

Hi william, Thank you for responding and sorry to be so late getting back to you. Glad your weather is not as bad as ours this winter, as it has been and continues to be very nasty. Another six weeks and things should be getting better. Blessings.

Hi mariaperalta, Thank you for your concern and yes I was prepared and stayed inside as you might guess. It has been a particularly stormy winter here. Oh well, another six weeks and the weather should be improving. Blessings.

Stay at home and hopefully, stay warm and cozy. It's good you have a wonderful neighbor. When a big storm hit, after three days of icy weather, my landlord brought us groceries. We could not get out at all. We lived on a hill and that hill was all ice. No one could drive up or down that hill. Well, they could drive down, but no one could get back up again. We were grateful for our considerate landlord. Hope you have lots of spare batteries and flashlights, extra blankets, food and water. I learned my lesson, always store extra food and water. So now, I have at least a week of water and food in my house at all times. I no longer live in that house with that considerate landlord, so don't know how helpful my neighbors will be. Also, I would like to be able to help others, not be stranded without food after a storm. Take care and I hope you are safe and sound.

Hi ZoeJoy, Thank you for responding and we have to be thankful for thoughtful people, be they neighbours or landlords. Like you I store enough food for a few days. It seems that everyone was prepared as there was no loss of life or a lot of people stuck on the highways - and oh yes my neighbour kept his promise. Blessings.

Hi echo, Thanks for your response and I am fine. I took your advice and did not go outside. It seems that everyone was prepared and there were no big accidents, so all but emergency vehicles must have stayed off the roads. This has been and continues to be a much more stormy winter than we've received in recent years. Blessings.

Its quite nice here in the Rio Grande Valley tonight. I'm writing this with the outside door open. No wind tonight and the stars are all out and about. One thing that makes Canada so great are the winter storms. Native Texans love to hear about blowing drifting snow. Those who live in the Dallas area and north do get snow but its seldom news-worthy. I like to tell stories of some of our Ontario winters of old, when we parked our snowmoble on the back-kitchen roof, and slid down the snow-banked wall to crawl into the house.

Hi barehugs, Thanks for your response and I'm sure you are happy to be away from this weather. I liked winter when I was young but only emergency workers were out in this storm. Blessings.

I've read the weather report and it says how cars were stuck on Highway 13 north and that Montreal got up to 45cm of snow, breaking a record. That's very scary to be stuck in your car in a storm like this. I hope you don't lose electricity. How lucky you are to have such considerate neighbors. You'll definitely need digging out after this is over. And glad to hear your flu is almost gone. You'll be able to enjoy the snow much better if you're not sick!

Hi deazil, Thank you for responding and yes the storm was a bad one but it seems most people were prepared and stayed at home. This has been and continues to be a bad winter for snow and storms. I agree about the neighbours too, they are just great. Blessings.

Oh another big storm, I dislike hearing this. I pray you will be safe and I am glad you're at least not sick! You have a nice neighbor to suggest digging you out after, he or she will have lots to dig out for themselves too! We had a small storm in december but i heard there is more on its way soon.

Sounds horrible, the biggest storm of the year, oK, stay at home and watch some movies or spend time on mylot, maybe it will be easier to kill your time at home. I hope you are safe, don't worry. I hate winter, as I am afraid of the coldness. Now I am having a flu, and I have had some medicine, but it doesn't work, I drink a lot of water and I hope it will be helpful. Now it's daytime here but it's night in your country, go to bed earlier and have a nice sleep! Good night!

Hi caopaopao, Thank you for commenting and I did stay at home until the storm was over. I don't go out much in the winter anyway. Many people lost power but I was able to watch TV and the internet. It has been a bad winter here, the worst in several years. Take care of your flu. Blessings.
