South Korea has just recently had a new female president for the first time in Korean history. The Philippines had 2 female presidents and other countries as well had female presidents. I want to know your opinions what you think about female presidents. Do you think they did a good job, looking back at history?

No. My country used to have the first female president (I don't remember the year) but I don't think she managed to lead the country very well. She seemed to try too hard to become like her father. He was the first president of my country and he had such a great charisma that I think no one will be able to compete. And her big mistake, I think, is that she thought she could be like her father.

So Indonesia also had their first female president. I believe we're learning about other country's culture in this discussion :) I'm sorry to hear that your female president didn't do a good job and that she couldn't match what her father did in the past. To make you feel better, I also want to admit that two of our past female presidents didn't do a good job as well. The first one has good intentions but her abilities to run a country is lacking, while the second one was doing a good job at first but then later on gave in to corruption. I think in her case, she was not able to handle the pressure that our country was having at that time and that was when she became weak and sadly gave in to her weaknesses after that.

Yes, I have to agree with what you said. There might be exceptions to the rule, like what if the woman president has a man's heart who desires women also as a partner? LOL In a general sense, I believe that in the highest leadership it should be men who rules because that is the way God made man, and it does not necessarily mean that man is superior to woman, it's just that man has a different role to play than a woman and both roles are important. That makes both man and woman equal. I hope no male chauvinist attack me with this statement

In conclusion, maybe a woman must not be a leader of any countries. Don't get me wrong, I do believe in the equality of rights but in some points, there are some fields that should be handled by each gender. I hope I won't make anyone feel offended here, but I'm just sharing my thoughts. Lol. I mean, a leader of a group or a company can be men or women depends on the capability, but let the men lead a country just like let the women do the house chores. I hope you get my point. :D

Well here in the US we have never had a female president nor a vise president. I think they would do better then the past president which have all been guys. Although we have had our first black president and I think he is doing great and so does a lot of other people since he is the president again for the next 4 years.

Yes, I guess it's possible that one of these days one female president would come out of America. You have your first black president and in his first election I wanted him to win but on the most recent election, I was rooting a bit more on his opponent because of his better moral stand. Anyway, this is just an opinion and won't affect the US votes because I'm not a US citizen.

But that is where you are wrong friend. Just because your not a US voter and vote in a different country that doesn't mean it doesn't affect the US at all. It does affect one new leader changes a lot of things because they don't all think a like and stuff nor do they all want the same things as each other. One person effects everything that happens where we live. The same as what materials we bring in and let out affects the economy.

Great point! I have to admit you're right, my friend. We are all somewhat connected with each other, no matter what location or country we're in. I suddenly realize how great it is to know this reality as well as how big a responsibility it is to take care that we live right, and that way we would be affecting our fellowmen...no matter what nationality...hopefully in a good way. Thanks brother!

We have had only one female president in my country and she did a very good job. She did it so well that it is possible that she runs again for presidency again when the president in office ends his period. I donĀ“t see why a female president would do a better or worse job that a male one. It does depend though as to the political ideas they have. That has nothing to do with genre.

Hi marguicha, I didn't know that Chile also had a female president and it is good to hear that she did a good job. I don't know much about Chile except for Marcelo Rios and your spicy foods. LOL I really need to learn more about other country's culture.

Well, we've never had a female president in the United States, but that doesn't mean that I am opposed to the idea of having a female president. I don't think that there is anything at all that is wrong with a female running a country because I firmly believe that women and men are equal in every way. In saying that, I don't think that men are better suited to play roles in politics than females are. I am pretty confident in saying that I believe that there will be a female president of the United States before my life comes to an end.

Well you had your first black president and I also believe it's most likely that someday there would be your first female president. And who knows, you might even get a female black president and that could really be a milestone. Yes, for me men and women are equal and only with different roles to play and there are several women born to have the role of a leader.

I think it is fine to have female presidents. If they can handle the position, then it will be great. They just need to work as a real leader.

I agree. Times have changed so much, in the past women are mainly housewives but in my own country I estimate that there are probably about 70% working moms as compared to about 30% housewives. More and more women can be seen in managerial positions in companies, and that holds true as well in the government.

It just shows that women are empowered these days. Gone were the times that women were better seen but not heard. I guess women are more compassionate so they understand better the needs of their constituents. Any leader man or woman who stand up for his/her righteous leadership is great.

Yes, I believe women's opinions nowadays are respected very much. I also think women has more heart due to their motherly nature. My Korean friend told me that he feels that the new Korean female president could have problems in the area of the military and she may not handle that area well. I guess he might have a good point there because women needs to let go of their tenderness in this area.
