I haven't had the opportunity to go traveling yet, but I want to be prepared. Does anyone belong to a travel agency that they recommend? I don't want to just go in and not know if they'll be any good. Also, those online hotel bookers: are they worth it?

I see a travel agent because I travel to a lot of different places when I go overseas. If you're just going to 1 location then I recommend do it yourself. The only reason why I go and trust my travel agent is because we've been friends for around 7 years (before he became a travel agent) so I like to give him my business and trust him

Well I live in Melbourne and so he is a 10 minute drive up the road from me. He used to work for Flight Centre but he got a promotion of sorts and is a manager at Escape Travel now

my dear friend, don't use agency if you want to travel, the travel time will be very hurried, I can't get travel joy, you follow the agency's tour guide walk from one palce to other place, you just can take a glanc to beautifull landscape sometimes, time is limited, you need follow them to finish the whole trip, it seems like finish a task , not like enjoy happy travel.

I never use a travel agent and have never had any problems with my online bookings. I usually use Expedia.ca or the actual package deals from the airline. I use deals from JetBlue if I can fly from the states. They have really good deals or westjet if flying from Canada.

I suggest going to a library and borrowing some travel guide books that appeal to you. Then you can decide where you wish to go to. You can look for package deals, flights only and accommodation only. If you see somewhere you wish to stay at check if any travelers have reviewed it online. I got given a five hundred and fifty pounds of vouchers for Thomas Cook Travel Agency. Prices were so high that the money didn't stretch far. We had a week in Cornwall and I had to pay an extra seventy five pounds. It was in July just into the summer holidays. We had wonderfully sunny weather. We were lucky to go then because the weather in August was like a wash out. I am an experienced traveler overseas having been to more than sixty different countries. Last year we went to Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay. I am very much an independent traveler. When I was 20 years old I used a travel agency called Trail Finders to book my airline ticket around the world. It is a specialized travel agency able to book around the world tickets. These days there are more choices of that type of travel agency like Travel Nation and Round the World Flights. For a student I recommend The Student Travel Agency.

I think book hotels on line is trustful, you should choose those hotels who are famous and have high reputation. And then, I don't like to travel with a travel agency, i want to travel following the routes i wish.
