Do you do online backround checks or people searches?

I do, sometimes. Usually it's just because I'm bored or curious, but sometimes I'm actully trying to figure something out about someone, mostly anyone I'm meeting off the internet. Peekyou is the one I use most. I can't really find any "100% free" "no sign-up" sites though, so if you know of some can you please tell me? I've looked up my own name before, it's crazy how much they know, however, they also get a lot of it wrong. So, that could be good, I guess.

I enjoy doing it. Why not anyway. If we are interacting with someone the more we know about that person the better it is. If those who want to keep their life a secret should not post anything about them online. Right?

I agree with you. I hate when people complain they have online stalkers when you can see they have several blogs and YouTube accounts on public. Even their Twitter account and Facebook profile is public. Yeah right.

I did it many years ago to look for a long lost friend. I also did it on myself.

As a researcher, I now have to use the internet to check people's background. Usually before the conference, I had to check the background of the people on the list to know what they hheytave done, what they are doing and what they are interested. If it is possible, I can get some of their papers and manuscripts online. When we meet in the conferences, we can find something common to talk with, aslo I can get some information I want to a certain people.

Most of the time, yes. But I only do this with people I have a crush on or have a relationship with. If it were someone else that didn't catch my attention or curiosity I wouldn't really bother wasting my time checking on them online. I find LinkedIn is also effective when it comes to job and location information. Facebook sometimes can be limited. If they have a blog it's even better.

I seldom do, I do not see the need for it. I think a real ... / cheater will hide anyway. This besides of the fact people can use fake names or different email addresse. I did try to use search machines by email address in the past after somene said I should do that to check. I wonder that if there is a lot of wrong info how that gets there or if it all will be deleted one day.

All the search engines pick up information from diffrent sites, there really is no fact checking, so you're bound to find the wrong information in a lot of cases. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing though. I guess it depends on the interpretation of the searcher (whether they realize information can be wrong, or think everything is accurate.)

When it comes to earning online and some clients, i do a background check. It's not a good feeling being scammed and I will grateful to anything that prevents me from entering transaction that will develop into one. Also, some sites are pretty darn useful when ti comes to questions that I need answers to.

Thank you for the information. I am trying to have a background check on someone I met over the internet. And I can't find the right site to check it online.
