If you are looking to trade stocks on your own, there are plenty of legitimate brokerage companies that offer online trading for about $10 commission per transaction. With these transactions, you are not dealing with any broker nor will you be receiving any advice. It is up to you to do all the research on the stocks and you make your own decisions about when to buy and when to sell. Stock picking is not a sure fire way of making money. Many people lose money on bad choices. It's not something to just jump into and think that you will pick any old stock and make money. I suggest researching more before you start investing. Go to CNBC, yahoo finance and even some online brokerage sites to learn more. Additionally, don't forget that if you sell your stocks for a profit you have to pay a capital gains tax.
