Okay, I'm new here and I just got done reading over the guidelines and I don't understand most of it. I do not know why we cannot post recipes. I do not see the harm. We also cannot post anything that is similar too someone else' posts...Um okay well lets see how long that will last. eventually we will run out of things too post using these strict guidelines. I just hate having so many restrictions on something that I use too spark my creativity. How can one be creative and expressive with so many rules?

Most of the things we are asked NOT to do in the Guidelines deal with subjects which, for various reasons, do NOT make for good quality discussions. If you read them with that in mind, you will see the sense of most of them. "How can one be creative and expressive with so many rules?" I don't recall that Shakespeare or Wordsworth ever complained about the strictness of the sonnet form. Rules and limitations, in fact, are generally a challenge, an inspiration and often a help to the truly creative and expressive mind.

I think what makes good quality discussions is a matter of opinion. I have seen alot of discussions on the weather and personal family matters and what they're going too do today. How are those discussions any more interesting then recipes or some of the other topics we are not allowed too post about? I personally do not care if someone is going too take their cat too the vet today or not.

Over 2 million topics for discussion have been posted since myLot started and most of them are NOT about cats!

Yes, thank you for pointing that out. I was being sarcastic. That was an example of what I have come across, topics similar too that nature.

MyLot is here for years and will be here for many more too but we will never run out of topics to discuss (even without posting recipes) because there are MANY creative Lotters here all bubbling with topics for us. MyLot wants us to be original and post refreshing new topics. Once you get the hang of it, if you really are creative as you suggest, you will then also understand the reasoning nehind those guidelines.

clv until your user activity rating reaches (100) you cannot rate. It might seem that you have rated others but if you refresh the page you will see that the boxes reappear. This will give you enough time to read and understand the FAQs so that you know how to use the DRS correctly.

Hi clv. Well I have been here for a very very long time. But I have never read the rules either. I know there are lots of restrictions. But when you stay here for a longer time then you will realize on why there are these rules. So don't worry about them. Just remember that you are unique. So what you think and write will be unique. Of course there are co incidences... Don't bother about them. Have a nice day. ... SuperShames

clv why because the lot belongs to Mylot and really creativepeople;e post discussions here every day. In all facets of our lives we find some rules because without them t ke traffic rules people would be slamming into each other. take or leave it this is mylot and the owners do have rules. Even if you dislike it there are reasons lile just filling up a discussion with recipes now who can respond to that, You c an talk about fixing food and ask questions about it to get a discussion going and even add some ways to fix something. the thing is they do not want a recipe as all the discussion. we need isues and problems to can respond to. You may wwrite about the trouble you have m king a certain dish and ASK what did I do wrong and that will be something wee can respond to. Just usee that creative mind instead getting all angry

I haven't read over the guidelines in a while but I know the basics and what it takes to make sure that my responses and discussions don't get deleted. Most of the rules are good ones though and you will see why they are put into place. I don't really understand why we aren't allowed to post recipes either. It seems like that would be a great way to start awesome discussions. I think that if we are posting our own recipes that we made up than it should be okay. I think that they have that rule so that way people aren't just copying recipes off of other websites and then posting them on to here. It's basically the same rule as not being able to steal work from another site and then repost it on to here. Even though some of the guidelines are a little strict there is still plenty of room on here for creativity.

You are doing pretty good here for a newbie. You already have so many paying attention to your post. There is plenty allowed here. Why worry about posting recipes? Welcome to myLot.

Whether you like the rule or not like the rule created or mention by this site Admin, you have to follow them. They must have created such a rules or term keeping the benefits of the site as well as of the members as such.

I didn't understand it at first either but I learned a lot from reading others' discussions. Every website has its own guidelines and I guess you will get used to it eventually. You cannot post recipes but there is no rule that says you cannot discuss about recipes.

You are correct as she spend her time on this site surely she will be use to it. There are so many different categories she can post her discussion other then recipe.

You can but make it look more like a discussion than the recipe page.

We all find a way to do it every day...I am sure you can too. The rules are there for a reason whether we like it or not. Everywhere has rules. We either choose to follow them or we go somewhere else. If they didn't have strict rules there would be nothing but a bunch of spam here, which would not be much fun at all. The one thing I can think of with posting a recipe is this, we are here to discuss things, after posting a recipe there would be nothing to discuss about that. You post it and that's it, there is nothing to further that topic...

Everyone is different I suppose, I could talk about a recipe all day but thats just because I love too cook. I agree with most of the rules on there, I just didn't expect there too be alot of censorship about what we want too talk about. I will just have too save the good stuff for Facebook :P

Hi clv1984, welcome to Mylot. Well, the guidelines enforced herein are basically the internal rules wherein regulating the abusive members in posting unpleasant, nasty or even below the belt wordings. It is just merely like such strict laws/rules in the government or country where we belong in which correspondingly governed with constitutional by laws. Now that you're a member here, I think you don't need to hate or annoyed on the implemented rules and guidelines herein - as long as you know your position and limitations in drafting articles that will not revolutionize the existing rules herein, still no worries about the same. You can be creative as much as you can in any forms you want but take note on the following restrictions imposed. Do your work freely, enjoy and don't even bother by any strict guidelines as long as you will follow and abide by the rules you will not be regulated. Good luck to you and enjoy lotting...
