As adults we get empowered to sign documents and probably our first signature would be found in our school documents. We sign cheques, contracts, court documents and various forms that are required for our survival. And the finest of love letters are signed mostly with xxx and even with lipstick marks As we grow we become aware of how to impress the world and we change the style we sign without realising that our signature is our public face to the world. We all sign differently - our signatures are unique. Some have big signatures, some are legible and some illegible, some have a line below the signature and some don't even have their name inside their signature and the young are known to have showy signatures. Celebrities and public figures have different signatures for different purposes. Once girls get married they get a new signature but men are spared. Has your signature evolved over the years or is it the same as you signed your school document. Did you practice vigorously before producing that first signature. What was your idea of a good signature. Let's discuss.

I had been sort of changing signatures when I was in Grade school. It seemed that i just couldn't get my mind straight to what signature was i going to use. Now when I was in high school, we were allowed to have our lunch outside of school. But my mom refused to allow me. I felt out of place when all my friends can go and I have to be left behind. So what my friend did was made a letter and signed it as if the letter came from my mom, but actually she didn't copy the signature of my mom. Every year for the next three years she would be making that same letter for my lunch pass. And guess, what? I have adopted that signature somehow and remained as my valid signature until College! Well, of course, when I got married, the surname changed but the strokes are pretty much similar as my signature before.

Was it just any signature without even knowing how your Mom would have signed and your school accepted it? That in itself is strange but stranger is when you used it as your own. What is the world coming to?

Signature is our lifeline. Perhaps your school did not think much of letting you eat out as there were other kids joining you. Yet they should have compared it to the record one normally keeps of parents' signatures. You got away. Any other secrets you would want to share?

The signature was composed of the initial of the first and middle name and then the whole last name. Incidentally, me and my mom has the same initials, so it was no sweat using it at all! I do not know how the school have thought that it was really my mom's signature coz my mom signs her full name all the time. My mom never knew about it!

i don't know if there is a good signature. but i know that I regret having very simple signature because it can be easily forged. I can not change it anymore because that's the signature I used in my Social Security.. I don't like conflicts so I stick with it until now and all my documents bear same signature. Anyway, there is nothing to worry about how simple my signature is, since no one will forge it I am nobody anyway and no money in the bank. hehehe. I will just be able to change it if I will get married. When? I don't know... if will

Atleast to change your signature you should get married! Your parents never thought of how simple your signature would be while naming you. Now look around for someone who has a complicated surname so that your signature after marriage would be difficult for anyone to forge!

Now that you have set your signature it is too late for you to change it even if you think that by changing it you will become rich!

My initial has not changed after marriage but earlier it was my father's name and then my name [using initials ]but after marriage it is my name followed by the latter half of my husband's name. My signature is extremely simple and I diligently take pains to maintain consistency in it too. There is a good reason for this .I have been an investor in the stock market for the past 22 years and twenty years ago the system was using physical documents instead of the electronic depository receipts you have now.The slightest discrepancy in signature would land us in trouble when we sent documents for transfer .Therefore I would sign only in one particular way; the drawback of this is that anyone can forge my signature [because it is extremely simple] but God has helped me and no forgery has taken place so far. My idea of a good signature is that it should be consistent and not change every now and then.

Since you say your signature is easy to copy did your kids by any chance sign their report card when they did not do well? I know what you mean by saying that physical shares depended a lot on signatures and I remember way back when demat was not there my husband lost some shares, his signature being clear as crystal. Sometimes my banks call me to resign that card that is kept by them as proof. Over time our signatures are bound to change. I have a line under my signature which is supposed to be a sign of confidence!

I used to practice my signature when I was little but it was for a grade..lol. I am amazed by the fact that there is no more of that now. Cursive has become a lost art and that is what I write in most all the time. My signature is pretty consistent but it has changed a little here and there over the years.

They will only go by how you form your letters, whether small, or big, or rounded, or with a line and such. It is interesting.

Over the years our signatures do change. I get to resign that card that bankers retain as proof. If you search the Net you will get some idea of your personality based on the way you sign. Go for it!

If there's an adjective for a person who has a fear of signatures then i will say that my name will be a synonym for it.I have a real fear of signature and its not because it ain't good, it is but i am unable to get it same every time. Yes i don't believe that signature reflects much about one's self.It will be like judging someone on his or her handwriting. You know bad handwriting = bad signature.

That's too bad and about signatures being the face for the world, there are always exceptions and you could be one!

My signature evolved over the years. I started with a short one, mostly name initials, then in college days, I altered it altogether until I get married and had to change half of it and include my husbands surname and put some curves over it..I guess I'm a girly type when it comes to my signature. I want it smooth and legible still so I had to practice on it especially when we were newly married so when I sign documents in the office I'll not miss that curve I added to make my signature one of a a kind.

The way we sign it shows a bit of our personality and your keenness to have curves in your signature must be having some definite traits in our personality. Anything special about you that you would like to share? You must be truly unique.
