I could be here, just reading forever..........

myLot is a treasure trove of knowledge where users share their experience. Experience as you know is the best teacher. And yet some grumble about not finding anything of interest here. If I cannot respond and cannot find a topic to post, I just read, and read and read..... Have you ever gone out of your 'box' here and got pleasantly surprised there is so much that one can take home. Do share.

There are times that I felt lazy responding and to pass away the time I just scan over topics and read through all the responses and comments and it's fun doing it, particularly the topics, responses and comments of seasoned mylotters. It seems just a group of friends exchanging jokes and pleasantries.

Reading through various topics here had inspired me to express my views in writing not only here in mylot despite my lack of technical know how. Although this does not translate to ample material gain but this provided a good mental exercise and an effective stress combatant for someone who is alone at home most of the time.

There is more here than in the real world. Here we have choices to read through and pick what suits us and to do that in the real world would be tough as there would be arguments galore. Here sitting in the comforts of ones home one has total control. You are right. It just gets into our system even without our knowledge.

Yes,i read more as compared to responding. The main reason is that i want to know what other think about any particular thing. In this way i can know the view of others. So i read more.Sometimes i do not feel like responding or participating in any discussions, then i read those discussions only.Sometimes when i have to solve some problems and i search discussions related to them first. If i find solutions, then i read those topics, discussions and i solve my problems.

It is also a nice feeling when users have benefited from your participation. Sometimes I just read through my own topics and responses and feel nice when I find that I have indeed played a tiny role in making someone happy. Reading, specially when one cannot find anything to post could be the best way to spend time here.

Hi ak! Yes, you are ver right that sometimes just reading the posts gives lots of useful information and insight into thinking of other mylotters. Lately, I have started adopting this course of action i.e. reading the posts. Many a times I am not inclined to respond to a post because I can not relate to it but I go through the responses to enlighten myself. For example if a post is about travelling to a particular place and I can not contribute anything, I just go through it to acquire some knowledge. Have a nice Sunday!

I don't think there is any other site as expansive as this covering the whole world through which we get to know so much about the culture, attitudes, and about their lifestyle. We are not in a mood some times to respond or post topics but myLot has enough on its plate to serve us!

And as we move on there will be new vistas opened, new users, new topics, new discussions and we will be able to come across them if we take time off to read.

I personally love reading posts on mylot. Its eye opening. I'm a pretty passive person so I tend to shy away from conversations with a lot of controversy, but I do enjoy reading them and gaining other people's perspectives. Mylot is a passtime to me and reading and learning is an enjoyable passtime!

I could not agree more with you. I have just learned a whole lot of interesting information about horse meat! All because a friend ate some accidentally and was disturbed about it and I posed a question about why horse meat was not good to eat. Now I know he eat some good meat and need not have worried. It was all about culture really, the kind of meat we can and cannot eat, and this is one of the best things about Mylot, we learn so much from one another. So, to answer hour question, yes I got out of my box yesterday and today I have been pleasantly surprised. Part of the success of this site is based on the interesting subjects that come up for discussion, so we are all responsible for the kind of content available to read about or to discuss with one another.

There are many days that I read much more than I respond. . . because I want to know about the other inhabitants of the Lot, or because I am tired and do not think I can do a topic the justice it deserves. I can always read. I find this to be a great place to learn about people all over the world.

Sharing this information that users are reading although not participating, should make the community proud. If there are no responses to a topic it could be that the user has no knowledge and so reads through that discussion and gains knowledge.

Hi allknowing, I visit this site almost everyday. I like share a little of my opinion if I come across topic that interests me. Yeah, I could this if time is allowed. If not I just read topics I'm interested. There are always interesting topics available here. Post or not just depends on if I have time spending on it. This is a wonderful forum for me to meet beautiful people and acquire knowledge and info as well as enhance my language Happy posting

It is only when we read that we come across new material, new interests and new users. We can then add them into our activity. This will be an on going process as the site keeps on updating with new entrants.

hi allknowin well now when I come to a discussion Iam thinking lof responding so I read then write then read what I have written correct it and post it.This is not A LIBRARY IT IS A DISCUS PENS TO MAKING DISCUSSIONS, RESPONDING TO THEM AND COMMENTING ON THEM. If we do not post and read and post again and again we will earn zilch and people will leave here for other sites.NoG.

This suggestion is only when users find nothing to post Hatley. If I cannot respond and cannot find a topic to post, I just read, and read and read..... . I get into such a situation sometimes and so I read. What is wrong in that? There is no need to get angry.

I am always intrigued by discussions and comments here. I could literally read forever too. I have been taken out of my box many times here but it was because I was willing to go. There are many people very set in their ways. There is certainly alot to be offered here if someone is willing to open themselves up to it.

I do it all the time. I even read activities of those who are not on my friends list. It is a great place Jen.. The more I use this site the more I am getting to like it. Some are fixed in their ways and therefore do not find much meat here.

There are certainly days when there isn' t much interesting topics for me to respibd to. But it doesn't discourage me at all. I do read a lot ofdiscussions everyday. Well, some are helpful in a way, but.it doesn' t make mehave that urge to respond to them. Sometimes some discusdions are vaguely done and I do not really know how to respond to it.

It could also be that if some wrong information is doing the rounds one could PM that user to bring that to their notice as disagreeing in the discussion can sometimes lead to flaming. Not participating does not mean that the user is absent!

If for some reason we cannot actively participate there is enough here for us to learn. As I said all what we read here is mostly based on what users have experienced.
