Are you still practicing saving coins? I just thought about this when I was a little kid my mother told me that it is nice to save coins and start it with in the new year. I remember my piggy bank that was being open at the end of the year that have lots of coins and save it on my personal bank. But that was when I'm still young, unfortunately I did not learn to teach my children about it. As I grew up and learn to earn money from my own job it's been hard for me to save money even coins, because every time I'm running out of coins to use for jeepneys I'm really bad that I will just take what I have put on my piggy bank. Now I'm starting to think about it again but I'm afraid that someday I will just take again and use it. What's your thought about this?

Yes still I use my piggy bank and store the coins because some time this coins is very helpful when no change in purse. Now a machine is fix in SBI bank and we can take the coins from this machine give the note and take the coin.

A coin vending machine was also installed in a bank near my home. Unfortunately it does not work..... So I have to save and keep several coins in the bag. It is very common for vendors to ask for change whenever I go out shopping. Saved coins in the bag come in very handy.

Hi Lyn, I love saving up coins in my piggy bank when i was a little kid and more so even now that i am a mother of three kids, i try to teach my kids the value of saving up and you know kids, they love coins very much that they ask me for it every chance they have. We were able to save up to Php 3500 last year and we are planning to start another one this coming February and we put the money in our savings account at the end of the year. In this way i get to teach my kids the good value of money and savings and have fun at the same time.

I remember when I was a kid when I used to have a coin bank that I open whenever it is Christmas time. We put coins in it and wait until Christmas season to open it up. I still practice saving coins but not for Christmas anymore. I save coins now so i can teach my children to save money as well. If you are afraid of taking what you have put on your coin bank, buy a coin bank that doesn't have any openings. One that you need to put some force to open up.

Hmm thanks but I decided to have one that I can open to change my bills into a coins. I agree that saving coins for a long month or years are not good because it must be circulated. Once I have a store and my experience running out of coins to change is not easy.

When I was a little girl, I definitely did save all of my coins all the time and I would only trade them in when I got to a large sum of coins. However, now that I'm older, I don't actually use cash nearly as often as I did when I was a young girl and for that reason, I have to admit that I don't save coins the way that I used to save them when I was younger. That said, I do need to get back into the practice of saving coins when I can because they always do come in handy later.

I don't think it is practical to save coins in the piggy bank. It actually affects the flow of coins. This is exactly the reason why most stores are running out of coins. The coins are in the piggy banks and are left there for long. The coins are meant to be spent and not kept. If you wanna teach kids to save coins you may do but help them open a kiddie account with the bank so that the coins are not just sitting inside the piggy bank. That way the circulation of coins won't be disrupted.

I don't have problems on that once I have a store and I know its hard when I run out of coins to change. The coins that I save for a week I do change it in bills so it will not stuck for months.

Hi, I think every kids are brought up to value money. Money is the medium of exchange and children know the importance of money. Even now as an adult I still save coins in money box. At the beginning of Chinese New Year I send the money box or piggy bank the bank for counting and credit to my son's saving account. The amount credited tallies with the figures I counted before I send to the bank.

i think in our country, it is wiser to save bills rather than coins because of the small monetary value, that is if you can manage without needing it

I save coins now, but I mainly just save nickels. I don't know why, but I like saving them. I have a jar that I use to save them in. My goal has always been to get it full to the top. A couple years ago, I was about halfway there and my sister laptop broke. I gave her the coins to help fix it. I've started back saving them now, and I was at near halfway full, but today I traded in some of them today. Saving coins is a wise idea though.

I save coins, not so much because I want to save money. I save coins because it fills up my purse when I get change. Because of this, I put a special little purse in my bigger purse and you'd be surprised how many coins I had in that little purse. One day when my granddaughter came over to visit, she told me to go to the bank and get some coin folders. She and her friends filled up all those folders and were we surprised when it went over $20.00. I think it's a good idea to save coins and when you get a certain amount, put it in your bank account.

I do save coins and they add up. I saved pennies which are only worth one cent but I had a big tin full and it added up to $80.00...and that is quite a bit of money when you think about it.

I am truly in admiration for what you have done and what you will be doing, saving money coins in a piggy bank. I also do that. When I get home and I had loose coins, I put it in my piggy bank. I use it during emergency when I don't have money for fare and other circumstances. It matters not whether we save big or small but the most important is that we can save some of our earned income.
