Can i update in DFU mode using already downloaded ipsw?

hi guys i download a 5.1.1 ipsw using snowbreeze i want to use it in itunes for faster installing can i use that ipsw? or i it update manually into 6.0 ipsw?
my device is in a DFU mode because the program error.
