I really wanted to buy a dog the last week. I really like the bigger one's like husky. But I just don't have a place for a dog like this. A dog is need a lot of attention. They can get sick or something bad can happend to them. I think im just not ready yet. But I admire those who have a dog and really love him take take kare of him.

You must be prepared when you decide to buy a dog, no matter how big he is. It is true, they need a lot of attention and care. Of course, you need a lot of money to own a dog. Not only it costs to buy it, but you need to give it the annual shots, it needs periodical deworming, and you also need to be prepared for vet bills. If you don't like to learn how to groom it, you must think about grooming costs. Not to mention all the time you must give it for walking, cleaning after it, brushing, playing, feeding and so on. Are you prepared for all this?

wow.. this could be a great step on you.. and yet you have decided not to push through with it if you can not take care of it yes, taking care of something is a task and obligation, but it returns joy to the person.

I do love this huge chow-chow, but this morning I have decided NOT to have him in my house anymore, except in the evening when my son gets home after work. My eldest just one day dump this beautiful furry dog-bear in my lounge. It was a couple of weeks old and the most beautiful dog! Now that my eldest has moved out, it has become my responsibility to take care of the dog and I did not plan that! The dog is loved, is part of the family, but needs more space which I cannot provide. He sheds hair everywhere and my house smells like dog!!! It is hard work keeping everything clean and make sure the furniture does not smell like dog! I love the dog, but feels angry at my son for doing this...

I used to love having pets too....but now that I am older you are so right that they take alot of time and energy and I am afraid that I don't have that to dedicate to a pet. They are wonderful company and I love being around animals but now I just can't do it...hopefully someday you will be ready. They are worth the investment!

Given a choice, I would love to have a dog as well. However, we need to consider a host of things before going for it, such as the tidiness of the house, the small kids in the house and needless to say, you need to think of the time when you will be gone on a vacation and have to leave him alone. A dog surely is our best companion but then we have to put things in perspective before taking a decision.

i think it's a good thing that you didn't take the dog which you really can't take care of. certain breeds and sizes require different amount of care. maybe you should you should start with the smaller ones until you finally get the grasp of how to take care of dogs.

Getting a dog no matter how large or small, or any animal takes a lot of commitment, care, love and being able to afford the vet bills when they get sick, as you know they don't come cheap. As well as the diet requirements the animal may require. I have always had cats, they are more independent, and are easier to look after than dogs. You have to be 100% certain before getting a pet and be realistic too about the kind and size of pet you want, it's a long term commitment.

Well done you, it is responsible not to get a dog if you do not have the facilities to care for it. all the best, urban

Having any type of pet is alot of work and takes alot of money at times. I have a shih tzu who will be 15 years old in June and I love him so much he is part of the family. To have a big dog you need a big yard and a big house. Especially a husky needs to be able to run around and loves to be outdoors. So you made a good decision not to have one now. On the other hand a shih tzu to me is the easiest dog to have. They are so very smart, are creature of habits and just wants to be loved. For me they are the best dogs to have and they are not a yap yap dog at all.

You should really take into consideration the place where the dog would stay. And if you have a small place, the kind of dog that you want is not possible. Why not have a smaller dog instead for the mean time? it is much expensive to move out to a bigger home just for a dog.

Well, we have a dog at home female Labrador for the past eight years. I would not have wanted to, but my brother and my mom wanted to take because they kept us really have a dog in the family. I can guarantee that these animals can give you a great affection and much happiness. This I tell you, that I did not want. But do not overlook the argument that taking care of a dog, feed him, take care of him when it is bad, bring it out for his walks are commitments that must not be neglected for the benefit of the animal itself! So a person, before taking an animal like that, must expect these things too.

In my take regarding pets, you need an ample amount of patience and responsibilities in adopting a pet. It’s because they are more likely your new family member. I do have a pet and yes, they need attention such as food, meds, vaccines, and other pet needs. They are like babies that if you don’t take care of them well, they will get ill. It does needs discipline in owning a pet.

I have a dog but she now lives with my parents. She has a place inside and a doggie door to go outside in a fenced area which is nice. I tried to get a puppy a few months ago but it was too much for me to give her constant attention and take her out to use the bathroom 5-6 times a day. And she would still poop and pee all over the carpet. She was a rescue dog so the lady gave her to another family so it wasn't a big deal. I'm going to try and get a kitten soon, they can be left alone easier and you don't have to take them outside, just get a litter box.
