My first time making sushi, I put too much rice. I put avocado, cucumber, mayo, crab, then the rice and seaweed. They turned out alright, need more flavour though. I may try it again, but wait for items to come on sale. I know the local grocery stre sells the seasweed for $4.00 a pack (and you can make a number of rolls which make about 6 - 8 pieces. We are going to attempt to make sweet potato rolls next. I've attached a picture of my rolls.

I like eating sushi very much. Actually I plan to do it on this Sunday. As to your first attempt to make sushi, it is not so bad. But the look is not so attractive. It seems that the rice is very moist? Do you know it is better if you use the left-over rice to make the sushi? Namely the rice you cooked yesterday and you use it to make the sushi today.

Thanks for the pic. Looks like you may need to sharpen that knife, though, the way some of them look a bit squished.

We determined the samething when we were cutting it, my parents don't have sharp knives, and I am not bringing out the ones I bought or they will claim them as their own, and say they were never yours.

Don't they have any kind of sharpen for them?

Seeing as my parents have had the knves for 20 years, and they are all rusted. I really don't know if sharpening would help.

Sounds like fun. I've long wanted to make homemade sushi, but I have yet to get around to it. I'm sort of surprised that I never did back in the days when I had housemates. Now, I live with my wonderful, anti-sushi boyfriend who would maybe watch me make sushi but definitely wouldn't want to try any of it.

Have you tried the veggie ones? I love the sweet potato ones. It's just sweet potato, rice, with seaweed, then this sweet sauce ontop.

Other than too much rice, how was it? I have tried making it before but usually have a problem getting it all to roll and stick together nicely. My favorite is more of a California roll...avocado, fried egg, cucumber (marinated in rice vinegar), and steamed carrots.
