I already signed up with this site several weeks ago when I have known that it can be a good source of traffic and I can get lot of views from the site. But I cannot get how it work so I was not able to share my links there.
But when I joined in wikinut, I found an SU button so I clicked it and I was redirected to stumbleupon. So that was the time that I was able to know how to share articles there.
I also tried it with my Expertscolumn articles and I was amazed of the result. However, there are some features which are not clear to me so I would like to solicit the help of our friends here on how I will get the most benefit from the site.

I use most of the social sites for promoting my articles. And yes Stumbleupon is also one of them. It is really good source to get good traffic. This site have done lots of changes in last few months. So this site totally look new to me. So even I am not familiar with all new features, but what I do is just sharing like you did.
So its okay.

Well, as far as I know, you are doing correct.. 
This site is for sharing purpose, and yes those sharing button is the easiest method to share links on stumbleupon. You can also add links directly on Stumbleupon if those links/site not having sharing option.

All social sites are good traffic source, and all are accepted by article sites like Expertscolumn to generate more traffic, because these sites are considered as honest source. With this all of them have some limit to stop spamming and paid hits, so a user have to be cautious while using them.
All of their features are not clear as they are rarely used, but all features are there to inform about them also, please do mention which feature you are hinting.

Hi friend!
Actually, I am trying to familiarize with the site and already found some things that I need. As how to follow a member and other things. I also found out that we cannot stumble our own article or site often because we might be tagged as spammer.
I am still trying to discover other features. Anything that could help me to get more views for my articles using this site will be appreciated.

Dear Aries stumbleupon is a bookmarking site where you have to give your article url so that it will be displayed on their page which is additional benefit for you because the number of back link you get it increase the chance of visibility in search engine.on your stumbleupon page under your profile you will get a LINK to add a new page where you have to mention your url link and that will be published there

How are you using it for getting traffic and how can be sure that the traffic is coming from the site?

I tried to put the link of the article on the space provided. Then after doing that I would check my stat and I can see the result automatically.
But there are certain rules to follow otherwise we can be tagged as spammers so we have to be careful also.
