Why are they so worried about my passport?

My passport expired on my birthday last year, it states on the website you have a year from that date to renew it or you have to do it all over again. It's $87.00 for the passport, mailing it in, then photocopy all your documents. Another $20.00 for the pictures. Right now I don't have this money to put in a passport, I went to the dominican for my brothers wedding a few years back. I wont be going any time soon, I use it sometimes for photo i.d. for the most part if they wont accept my licence, or health card. My parents are going on about how I need to get it, and just nagging away. They plan on going each year somewhere, my sister goes with them or with her boyfriends family. That is not on my priorities right now, I want to buy a place, and move in that step, not go on vacation around the world when I can't afford it.

While you may not be planning to go on a trip anytime soon, it certainly wouldn't hurt to keep your passport up-to-date. You never know where life may lead you, and having your passport ready is a good way to stay prepared.

It's nice to go around the world if you CAN afford it. What fun is it if you can't? I wouldn't want to go on vacation somewhere if I didn't have any money. And yes, you are saving up for a home so that is your priority. Maybe they think you'll never get that home so they're bugging you to spend some money on the passport. I wouldn't do it if you have no intention of using it soon. I would only do it if I had the money to spend freely.
