Do you have a lot of debt.

Debt can really drive us crazy. I often times think how I can't wait to get us out of the debt we are in but then I think more than likely something else will come along. Thankfully we aren't a lot in debt but the debt we have now is enough to bug me. We have a car payment, medical debt, and some business debt. I hope that we will be able to get a lot of it payed off soon or at least catch up to where we would like to be.

My debt isn't even three grand but what gets me about it is because of it, I can't get a new bank account. I even have debt still on my credit report from companies that aren't even around anymore. I thought that was going to go away..guess not..I tried to fix it so I could eliminate my debt but it seems a little complicated..

You are correct now a days most of the Bank hasitate to give the new loan if somebody has already taken the loan and they are defaulter as such or still they have to pay their loan installment or clear their loan.

Sorry to hear that you can't get a new bank account. Yeah it takes I think around seven years before certain things will drop off our credit report. It is a bummer. It is hard to be able to eliminate things like that. I hope that in time you will be able to get that off your record and get another account as well as being able to do other things you would like too.

@sriroshan that is so true. This even happens if a person messes up their checking account and then it takes awhile for them to be able to open a checking account. I can understand where the banks are coming from but it makes it hard for a person to get back on track when they can't fix what has happened in a certain time frame.

i seems society has been programmed to accept debt with open arms as a way of life. still, i understand some people don't have much of a choice.

Yeah sometimes it is necessary to get different loans for different things. But it is important that we think about these things carefully. That is how it was for us with our car loan. My husband and I both had two vehicles and unfortunately they both gave out on us at the same time. So we needed a vehicle which lead us to having to get a loan in order to get one. Thankfully we are almost done paying it off.

I have a lot of student loans. It stresses me out a lot because I am still in school and don't know if I would be able to find a job when I graduate. The loans are already ballooning because its charging interest and I'm really worried that I wouldn't be able to pay it off when I graduate or even be able to make payments. My professors try to comfort us by saying that the economy should be better by the time we graduate but we are not calmed by that...

I'm so sorry to hear that you have a lot of student loans. I agree that it is very scary to think about not finding a job after graduation. What will your degree be in when you are done with college? I hope that you will be able to find a job soon after graduation. The interest for loans is so high.

I have been in debt in the past with credit cards all usually due to Christmas shopping and new clothes for school for my girls. Now though they are grown and out of the house. Being able to buy two homes at different times and selling them each I have no credit card debt Thank GOD! It is the worse thing to deal with when you owe money to anyone. Now living in a home that is paid off it is freedom. I only use one credit card when buying online and at Christmas time and then I paid it off the same month. No finance charges, no ongoing balances. The worse thing anyone can do is have several credit cards max out and then paying finances charges every month on top of it.

I'm glad that you no longer have credit card debt. I'm sure that you are very happy about that. Having credit card debt can be a big pain and add a lot of stress to our life. I'm glad that you have your home paid off. I'm sure that you are loving that. Yeah having all of those incurring fees would make a person feel like they can never catch up.

I'm glad to hear that you don't have debt. Having debt is very stressful. It's best that we avoid it. It is good to pay for things ourselves. Borrowing money can get us into a lot of trouble and we can become in over our head with these types of finances.

In nowdays to worry about your debt sounds so outdated and old fashion to me you cannot believe it. In the past when you could be arrested and sent to prison for your debt I understand it but today ??? Looks around. All the governments in North America and Europe are in debt up to their chin. Do you think they worry of it much. No they just accumulate more debt each year. If you managed to accumulate a lot of debt you should be proud in the modern world. Nobody is going to punish you. To be a bankrupt todays sounds as to be a hero for a person. If you do not see it really then try it again and again until you come down from the sky to our real world. Look at bankruptsy statistics and you will realize how one should treat its debt. If you feel some discomfort with your debt just work on yourself. It is very difficult to be better then your government because it is them not you who sets the rules. Personally I know some great bankruptsy stories which I personally watched at my previous work. People had written off 50-70K of debt and in half a year or so were clean with a new credit card.

Yeah I agree that there are too many countries in debt. Especially the USA. It is sad to see things. But you are so right that at least to day we aren't going to prison or worse. Thankfully though I don't have a lot of debit and I don't want to have any either. I don't own a credit card because I don't see the point in having one when we don't have the money for it.

The biggest debt that I have right now is student loans for school. Its really troubling that I have racked up so much debt and have not finished school. Right now, I don't think I will plan on returning because I am having a hard time justifying going to school. I keep hearing things about finding a better job, and move your social standing up, and becoming a more productive member of society. Right now, at this point, I no longer see the benefit of a college degree, especially when people are struggling to find jobs in this economy. I don't know if it is the burnout that I have from school, or my view point of things have changed. A lot of things have occurred to make me feel this way. Sometimes, I wish I had not tried to get that degree, and could have ran up the debt for something more useful, which I could have returned. Another issue that I have ran into was the amount of debt I racked up from being unemployed. Bills suddenly piled up, and I am still paying those things down. What's interesting is that I was using the unemployment money to pay down my debts, but now, I must fight unemployment because they feel I wasn't supposed to received the money. Nothing I have done was due to living outside of my means because I make sure I don't go outside of what I can afford.

I have some debt myself (mostly student loans) that I am hoping to pay off soon. I have one credit card that is 6 years old and will fall off soon. I know Randy has more debt than me (medical) and we are working hard to pay that off as well. I am hoping that my online business will take off soon so I can start paying it off. I found a program that will help me pay off my student loans.

For me, it's all about the monthly bills and the monthly payments that have to be met or else. It is really a heavy weight to carry.

I agree with you. Debt causes a lot of frustration for individuals and families. It is best to stay out of debt as much as we can. We should incur a lot of debt. It will only make us upset the majority of the time. I'm glad that you are not in debt as well.

That is one thing I try to avoid. Coz I really do not have the means to pay it back. So to be safe, I woud never have anything that is not within my budget or something more than I can earn.

I'm glad that you try to avoid debt. That is what we should all try and do. Most of the people who incur debt really don't have the means to pay things like this back. And so they end up in a rut financially which affects other areas of their life. Because all have to admit that financial problems do cause problems in our relationships as well. I'm glad that you stay within your budget. That is a good thing to do. We should all work hard to do that.

I don't have so much debt, just a few. I have house rent, handphone prepaid cost, electricity and water bills, meal cost, internet cost and public transport cost. Yes, eventhough I don't have a lot of debt, but I can still feel the tension. I will always make an effort to cut down debt whenever I can. That is why I stay away from credit card and money lender. They can kill me faster.

Debt is always tormenting when there is not enough resource to pay it off. So I hardly incur debt. If I need to incur any debt then I find out a plan of how I will pay it to my best. If the plan is not possible then I usually leave it. Better I try to enjoy a debtless life.

I agree with you. It is best not to get in debt. Once we are in debt it is hard for us to get out of it especially if it comes to having to having late fees added to our current. Then it seems like a hole that we have a hard time climbing out. It is very important that we live with in our means.
