If female is a mermaid, then male is merman. Have you seen one?

I am sure most of you are familiar and fantasize to be somebody during your childhood years. We have the fantasy to be superheros or sea creatures like mermaids. It is common to see mermaids in cartoon network, how about merman? Did you ever see one? During my days with my grandma, she used to make a story that they are true. Some fishermen claimed a close encounter to them in the sea. Would you believe? Are they really true?

as a kid i know i thought a time or 2 that it would be really really cool to be a mermaid. of course i have never seen one and probably never will but just because you dont see something doesnt mean it isnt real. there are a lot of things we are suppose to believe in that we can not see so why should this be any diffrent. also i agree with you if a female is a mermaid than a male has to be a merman. you dont see merman mentioned much but i think it should be

that is a good way to look at things. after i made that post i was thinking about your discussion and was telling my husband about it and he had a good point. he told me he said no he doesnt really believe in them but then agin he cant be sure. he said people believe in ghosts and we cant see them (most times). he said it is your imagination and there is nothing wrong with believing things like this. i am sure even long after we are gone there will still be talk about memaids. 1 day i hope to visit the lost city of Atlantis. They have a big place of it now and i think it will be interesting to see :)

What if you had seen one, I attached a picture of a merman found in the Philippines. But I am not sure if it is true.

There may be a birth defect when someone born with his legs attached to each other, having only one foot. It happened and it's not fun at all to be born this way. Here is a youtube video with a girl. That girl has the mermaid syndrome. It is not nice at all, but, that's life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8okYhcRwrgY

I wish they were real! Not long around on Discovery or Animal Planet,I can't recall which channel, had a two hour program on Mermiads. It seemed so real! They said the US Navy was covering up evidence that they were not real even though they were! That the creatures lived with the whales and they have existed since the beginning of time! Of course this was all a hoax! I found that not funny but it is nice to fantasy that they are real! I also love Disney's the Little Mermaid!

Certainly, but I have never seen the word,'merman' in any dictionary.Your argument is logical.Mermaids are female. If females are there, then male mermaids too must be there.I don't know whether mermaids really exist. That's why I am talking in ifs and buts, but if they do,then their males too must be existing.I agree with you that a new word, merman' should also be included in the dictionary.

I believe it is possible they could exist. The ocean is endless, there are new species of creatures being discovered every day on this planet. The ocean is the largest area on this planet that is still the most undiscovered. Maybe if mermaids exist, they might not look like the mermaids you see on TV. Who knows, maybe there could exist an intelligent species of creature that have human-like features, I mean dolphins are very intelligent, who knows what other intelligent creatures haven't been discovered yet.

Well not very common that there is this merman since I think they are more known to be female than the male version. I think this is a folklore that is known worldwide. Each country has their own versions but the idea is still the same half body of a human and half fish. So I guess in the past these creatures may have existed since many countries have their own depiction of this creatures. Witnessed by seafarers worldwide. I do not know if they are real or not since I have not seen one. Although there were others that claim they have skeletal remains but so far this was taken as a hoax by some which they say that it was not real mermaid skeleton.
