I have not been this sick in years! First my granddaughter gets the flu, then 2 weeks later I get it. I'm very careful about washing hands, sanitizing everything, and using anti-bacteria wipes etc. So I was surprised that I got it. Thank God I didn't throw up, it was always the other end. Throwing up hurts too much! So then a week later, my granddaughter gets a cold. It wasn't just sniffles, she had a temp for several days. So we are sick at home together, but we had to be careful about being around each because the doctor said that we were both contagious and could get what each other has. When I was finally feeling better, I was searching online for a good anti-bacteria cleaner and I found one. It's called Bio-Protect and it works great! I've been treating everything I can with it. Colds and the flu are really hitting the states pretty hard this season. I thought I would share the link with you as to where I found it. They have 'ready to use' and concentrated. I bought the 'ready to use' because I didn't want to bother with mixing it. Here's the link: https://irs4you.com/new/index.php/en/products/antimicrobial.html

My parents have had colds twice so far since the Fall. My dad who is now in his early 70's goes out of the house in just a small jacket no matter what the cold brings. He won't put on a heavier coat, no hat, scarf or even gloves when he is outside. Then he gets a cold like now again and then my mom gets it. The brother here brings his cold in the house as well, he eats junk food all the time and never any vitamins. I have somehow stayed cold-free by taking a little more extra Vit C, D and zinc. Washing hands yes but that isn't always effective. I didn't get the flu shot but my parents did. I was hoping my brother didn't have the flu cause he doesn't get a flu shot either. He had his cold for two weeks here already, lots of coughing, laryngitis and so forth. He coughs all the time even with no cold and won't go to the doctor so who know what else he has. I have a slightly compromised immune system. I think it's all about the vitamins, I really do. Try and get some extra d and C in there, and even zinc. Please. It works for me with this lousy immune system and sinus issues. I haven't had an actual cold in 4 years.

I know I'm probably going to sound like a commercial for this product, but it really works! I don't usually recommend products, but I just love this Bio-protect! I've been told that hospitals, offices, restaurants and more use it. I put the direct link to the ready to use gallon on a post before yours. It might be good to use your parent's home.

I also don’t like times when I am sick, I feel like my body isn’t responding to my working activity. What I usually do, when I am in such illness, is that I take time to rest somehow 2-3 days more or less is helpful and do have as much sleep and liquids as possible such as water therapy. What I do to prevent on having such sickness, is that I do take my day as healthy as it gets. Going to exercise and multivitamins and minerals in my body.

Same here! My body just doesn't respond well to what my brain tells it to do when I'm sick. I would get up to take my granddaughter to school, come home, go to bed, get up to get lunch, go to bed, get up to pick my granddaughter from school. And I did drink alot of water. I had went to the doctor and got prescribed medicine and it made me very tired. Now I'm trying to catch up on the housework LOL!

I'll spare you a lengthy lecture but you're basically sabotaging yourself by denying your immune system the chance to fight anything. How can it defend you when you won't let it work out on everyday germs and bacteria? That's like locking up a prize fighter in a little cage 24/7 and expecting him to come out and win a fight every 3 months or so with no sparring time. I haven't been sick in 20 years or so other than the occasional sniffle. Antibacterial anything has never crossed my threshold and I view hand sanitizer as pure poison. Hope you don't get sick again. But do try to let your immune system work sometimes after this flu season is over.

Congrats to you! My husband and I raised 2 boys. My immune system was better then. Back then I rarely, if ever, got sick. I think with getting older my immune system is getting weaker. I need to watch what I eat and take vitamins.

I don't know why it's hit so many people this year. I don't know if people are being careless and not covering their mouth when they cough and sneeze or what. On the news they said that when someone coughs and doesn't cover their mouth those germs stay in the air 20 to 30 min or more. And thank you, we are doing much better now.

I am also not the type of person that gets sick easily. I try to be healthy as much as possible for my kids. You know how big a mess it would be if the mother is down with fever, right? About two years ago, I have been the the ER for 6 times, all during the first quarter of the year. I really couldn't believe that it was happening that time. But I did read from my 2011 Astrological readings that during the first quarter that I was most likely to get sick and that I should be careful. Well, although I am fond of reading those, I do not really believe in them. But it did happen to me. I was even hospitalized for 4 days in May 2011 and it was the very first time I have ever been admitted in the hospital aside from those times that I gave birth.

Actually, we adopted our granddaughter so she is with us all the time. :) We raised 2 boys and yes, it woul be a big mess if mom gets a fever! It was hard for me to take care of my sick granddaughter when I was sick also. But you do what you have to do.

I hope that you start feeling better soon. As well as your granddaughter. It is awful being sick and getting the flu. I'm sure that around our area families will start to get sick. I hope that we don't get sick but it is hard to avoid when everyone around us is getting sick.

It is hard to avoid it when people around you are sick. I think I was feeling invincible to the flu because I hadn't been that sick in years. But it brought me back to reality - fast! LOL

I have to say that I agree with Dragon. If you allow yourself to be somewhat exposed it allows your immune system to become resistant to what it is exposed to. I do use some anti-bacterial stuff, but not to the extent some people do. I am, however, a bit concerned about something I read a while back. It discussed the immunity the germs are getting to antibacterial products and how they are becoming very strong. That is why the doctors started to not prescribe antibiotics too. One of the main places I use antibacterial stuff after contacting is the hand scanner at work. I worry about that thing.

Thankfully I have had my flu jab, so I should be ok, other than the odd cold that we can all get. I have to rest during the day, so I get use to the fact of feeling low or ill, but I will say that I would hate flu. All my friends have to stay away if they are ill, as I have a problem with my white cell count and I pick up all the germs that are going and even the sickness bag makes me really ill for a lot longer than it should.

That's good that you got the flu shot. We didn't get it this year, we should of. I have no excuse except for feeling like I never had the time, and in hindsight that is a very weak, lame excuse! There have been many people who have gotten the flu shot and still got the flu. I'm just glad we're over it. And I think that product has something to do with it because there are 5 of us living here and only 2 of us have gotten sick.
