Waitress post Pastors message on receipt why not tipping

There was a news story about a Waitress who posted a dinner receipt on which the Pastor wrote "I give 10% to God why should you get 18%" and left no tip. It is the restaurants policy to include the 18% tip for parties of 6 or more. When the pastor saw it she complained to the restaurant and the waitress was fired. My question is should the waitress have been fired? And second if the pastor had no complaints about the service why not pay the tip for the service the waitress provided? The Pastor should remember Jesus's words to the lawyers "render unto Caesar's what is Caesar's and unto God what is Gods".

I heard it was a waiter not a waitress. I didn't even know the person was first that is just bs to get fried for that. People dont' get tipped all of the time but it should be because they didn't do a good job. A lot of people are trying to get the pastor in to trouble for not tipping. Yes you give 10% to go on the weekends on Sunday not no money when someone is working and give you a service because that is what that people get paid in is the tips nothing else really at all.

That pastor maybe the pastor of the devil and not of GOD. The waitress was just unlucky to meet the Pastor of the devil. If he is working with Devil then for sure he has no heart nor not even understanding and the restaurant was happened to be the instrument of Hell good nobody was poison on the food they served.

Obviously, I've never heard any of this pastor's sermons but I's guess she doesn't "practice what she preaches". I'm totally on the waitress's side in this; both the pastor and the employer are jerks, in my opinion. From my own personal experiences I'd guess that the restaurant in question wasn't "cheap" since it's usually the classier places that have that policy of including the tips in the bill. The pastor should have known the restaurant's policy before ordering and since she apparently didn't it was HER fault so she should have paid the bill, tip included, and if it bothered her that much simply not returned to that restaurant in the future. I've known a lot of waitresses in my life and I know they work very hard for almost no wages. Their tips are what they survive on! I think 18% is a bargain rate since I've thought for years the usual rate for good service is 20%. I'm not wealthy, not by a long shot, but that's what I always try to give. Annie

Having talked to other people in the restaurant business they feel that the included tip on the bill was a charge and not paying it could be considered not paying the bill. It was not the waitress that placed the tip on the bill but was a charge for the service. The waitress may be charged tax on that 18% and not receive the pay which is very unchristian. The pastor was wrong.

No she should not have been fired and the Pastor was a jerk. Her boss manages to get away without paying his waitresses even minimum wage and the waitress has to rely on the public to pay her wages...all of which I think is wrong by the way. We go out and pay for a meal and pay a food tax and exactly why is it up to us to pay the wages of the establishments employees as well?? I imagine it sucks not getting a tip. She pretty much just worked for free and then to have a jerk disguised as a man of God rub it in her face. I'm sorry she lost her job but glad he was made a public disgrace. Her boss should be too. Hopefully it is a blessing in disguise for her.

Tipping is expected in many kinds of restaurants. It is a matter of choice for your service. It is not mandatory. If someone feels that you do not deserve a tip then that is their choice and establishing should respect and accept that.

hi bobmnu I think myhself 18 p ercent is too high too and further no waitress should post her employers business on F acebook so no wonder she ot fired. I tip what I can afford and if thats not good enough so fish.Poor people cannot tip big like well to do people can so give us all a break here.Either include it in the bill or else make it ten percent and do not run out of the cafe after me if i did not leave a tip. the reason being I had just enough to pay for m y dinner.so many people just do not realize we all are not rich or even middle class some of us have to work for every dime we made, I never got tipped where I worked in the hospital and i will bet i worked much harder than most waitresses ever did.We get sp;t up; get vomited on, bled on and its part of the job and we do not ask for tips;'s either.
