Pennies are now useless, have to wrap and get rid of them.

Our penny has now gone out of circulation, will not be made anymore. It costs 3 cents to make one penny, so the government decided to get rid of them alltogether. That's fine with me. But now we have a bucket full of pennies, and we have to wrap all of them and take them to the bank. Then again, we could always melt them down and sell the scrap copper for more money. I'll be doing some research on how to melt down pennies for scrap and then will find out how much the value of scrap copper is. If it's worth it, then I'll melt all of ours down and will sell the copper. It might just be a good amount of money when we're done.

If your penny is like our penny it is made mostly of zinc and not worth anything. I bet they would have all been melted down already if they were worth something.

I have just looked this up, and prior to 1997, pennies were almost all copper. The modern ones are mostly steel. Steel is worth money since it is a scrap metal, but I wouldn't be able to separate the metals, so the newer ones wont be melted down. But the older ones I will look into melting down.

It`s a pity that you people weren`t informed on time about the pennies going out of circulation. As usual, the people with less money are the ones with most damage. I can`t imagine rich people saving pennies. I hope you get something for them.
