Decision to stop drinking...

So I have not had any alcohol since New Years and I don't even feel like I miss it. I mean, I am a girl who never met a tequila shot I didn't like. I drank Jack D. while other girls were trying to be cute sipping wine coolers. I don't know if it's because I did so much drinking these past six years (never to the point where I didn't function or need help) that now it just seems boring..it's like you drink you get a buzz..you drink some more and everything is funny..you might stumble or even fall but once you wake up the next day, you are a little lighter in the pockets (you spent money) and all you have is memories..has anybody else stopped drinking lately? Do you miss drinking?

I quit drinking in September because I found out I was pregnant. Now I'm considering keeping sober because it has been so long and will be longer before I can/will drink. When I was younger I drank heavily, and looking back on it I am a lot happier now. Sometimes I do just want a drink, especially since my live-in boyfriend still drinks, but it isn't as tempting as I thought it would be at all.

I know a few girls who drank while they were pregnant..they even offer the children they had sips of their drinks..I stopped when I found out I was pregnant but didn't find out I was pregnant until the beginning of the third trimester..I wasn't drinking heavy then but it scared me when I found out that I was that far along..I am the only one who drank at my house. My son's godfather doesn't drink so the only temptation I had was my friends..

I once drunk and felt comfused .When i became drunk i just rambled and rambled and then went sleep. To be honest,i do not miss drinking, in my opinion it is not yummy and never taste good. Although sometimes it helps me never reminiscent of bad things. Also drinking is not beneficial for our health.

You are right..I gave it some thought before I decided to quit and I noticed that while I was drinking, I didn't really eat much. It was like a weird diet..I come from a family of drinkers and to be able to drink that much and not be affected by it had to be unhealthy..excessive drinking can damage your liver so I figured it was best to stop now while I was still kind of young...

Hi MissBlack, I am like you pretty much. I used to put them away with the best of them! LOL I liked the hard liquor as well. I used to drink Southern Comfort and Loved some Tequila. I could drink quite a bit and and never really had a hangover the next day. There was a point that I thought that the amount that I was able to drink was maybe an indication that I should cut back. So I did with ease. I do enjoy a drink or two just to unwind with my hubs in the evening on the weekend. But its not really something that I find important.

Drinking is not a major part of my college life, because I do so much during the day. But at the same time, its a major part of my nights sometimes. I don't do enough of it where I feel the need to quit, but I am realizing that its not something you do each and every weekend. It takes the actual fun out of it.

Wise decision, at least you made it. I pay little respect to women drinking liqours. Sometimes while drinking you lost control and you can drink too much beyond the limits your mind can hold and from that moment unwanted things may happen anytime and to add it is not good for the health.

I've thought about it but generally end up not having the heart to do it in the end.

I am a person who tried many times to stop drinking but failed after completing a few few weeks or so. But some of my friends have succeeded in it. Not only pockets but health of body and mind too get badly damaged by habit of drinking. Be fortunate to keep away from the drinking habit.
