I have been complaining about my laptop being overly heated when it comes to the times i am using it. sometimes i have just opened it and for 3 hours it would already be too hot i can feel the heat in my wrists as i type. My BF knew the guy in our office that handles and checks laptops. He sure was nice to say he can check my laptop and open it, to clean it and see why it was getting overheated. He gave me a few ideas as to why this is so.. but i hope that the reason was just that it needs to be cleaned. :D He said my fan might not be working anymore(i hope not) because if this is the case it is still going to be overheating. So wish me luck! I hope that the laptop would be ready by tomorrow. I plan to give him a token of my appreciation for his efforts! ;)

I am suspecting that as well. I think it could be your fan that is at fault since processors are really fast to get hot when it is not properly ventilated. I also know there is this toothpaste like gel that is placed on top of the processor to absorb the heat. This gel is placed there when they are manufactured but after a long time they get dried and is not effective anymore. I just forgot what they call it but I saw one when our technicians applied this to one of our PC before.

Yeah its much cheaper since you can buy this in any computer shops. You will just apply this gel on top of the processor and it is supposed to cool the processor. Maybe your technicians know about this one. I guess if your fans is still running it may be this gel is what you need to replace.

Good that you will not have to buy the fan. I think the gel is a lot cheaper and cleaning was a lot easier to do. I do not know about the ant thing why they were attracted to be there at your laptop. Maybe there are some food crumbs that feel on it while you were using it and ants got attracted only to be fried there by the heat of the laptop when you used it.

Yes wait for him to come and fix it free of cost for you.Every computer gets overheated after couple of months due too much dust in the cooling fan that makes much slower rotation so it gets the heat.

That was his first idea, of why my laptop is getting too hot, but he found out that there were ants in them too... aside from the dusts. he said my fan is working well. wow, this asus is sure of good quality even after 5 years! ;)

It was a bit surprising, i bought this laptop years ago because it was the smallest (10 inch laptop) and that it was the one that best fits me... that is not as expensive as other laptops. =) thank you so much

your fan is only not working fine it cause by dust in your laptop. Try to open the laptop and see inside, if the fan is sticking then you had to replace your fan.

Hi professor, yes i did see your response, i am toggling from one discussion to the other. and its been really great to have various comments and various experiences being shared by our mylotters in both the discussions i have created. thank you so much for your time. :D I think i am going to see what fits best for me, i used to have the transparent keyboard cover, it was helpful but i thought the pads are even easy to over heat because some air isn't letting out due to the cover. but maybe that was just mine to resolve, i'd see what i can do.

That's very nice of him, i hope you don't have to get new parts for your laptop though. That guy is so nice maybe I'd bake him a cookie or a muffin or two, i think that is cheaper than service fee.

Oh so that is what Tikoy is in English. You're right Chinese New Year is so near, makes me want to go to ong pin and buy fried siopao, lumpia and eat gigantic siomai.
