It's All 'Kicked Off' Since John's Promotion!

I know he can handle it though as he always remains calm in a crisis! Since he acquired his managerial position he's had one guy resigning to set up on his own and another guy (Graduate Boy) who's set up his own website on the sly, claiming to be a 'Freelance Graphic Designer' and on there was 'work' he said he'd done..but he hadn't..it's from Reeds. Basically, he's a lying scumbag who should've been sacked months ago. Unfortunately, the sacking part is out of John's hands but Graduate Boy has received a written warning rather than the verbal ones he's had in the past, for things like taking unrequested leave, lateness, that type of thing. I feel it's been allowed to escalate as I figured out this bloke from Day One! John was also involved in interviewing for the vacant post last week. Luckily for him, the guy that's been chosen was someone he wanted, so that's good! I really think Graduate Boy has had far too many chances though and I find that if someone lies once he or she tends to lie over and over again..so I don't think we've heard the last of this 'website' saga even though he's taken it down.

Hubby sounds like he is getting into his new job role. Nice!!!! I think thats great. I know he will do good and I hope you are doing good here on MyLot. And I hope to see you more on the other site as well. It sounds like Graduate boy is a real moron. LOL. I just had to throw that in there.

In a way I'm glad the partners don't get invited onto works dos as I'd have thumped Graduate Boy by now. Whenever John mentions him (not as much now as he's his boss lol) I can feel by blood boil. I don't really understand how the 'other' site works. I certainly don't get notifications from them, but there again I guess I'm not supposed to?

Log in there and read the FAQ's. If you need help just send me a PM there and I will help you with it. The key there is to be active. I do both, MyLot and that. I stay logged into both.

It is only a matter of time for the guy to be stood off.But then, even though he stays there,he won't pull his weight.John seems to run him off his feet every day after his promotion.Fortunately,He takes everything in his stride.

He is run off his feet, you're right. I guess it's better than having nothing to do, though.

Well as I am sure you are aware when someone is trying to scam something there usually is no stopping them until they are either caught and stopped or give up on their own. I think honestly that these type of people will always be out there to get you. Nothing unfortunately can stop someone when they are seeking revenge.

Well at least he's been found out..on Facebook of all places. He's taken his site down but you're right, he's bound to find a way round it and start again..then he'll be sacked.

Trouble is sacking someone isn't that easy, companies now are so afraid of getting sued for unfair dismissal it has become almost impossible to dismiss someone, unless it's gross negligence or Graduate Boy would have to do something really really bad. I used to hate it where I worked, people would get away with all manner of unprofessional behaviour and the bosses would turn blind eyes. Mind you nepotism doesn't help. Does Graduate Boy have blue eyes or does he have a member of his family high up in the company directorship? Usually that works.

Apparently, he isn't related to anyone in there. Basically, the company have been duped. If he's anything like the lying toe-rag I used to live with years ago..he will have this manner about him. One of those that can lie TO YOUR FACE and not flinch. That's the only way he's been able to get away with stuff. However, Facebook has been his downfall as he just can't resist promoting himself on there. What an idiot. I hope they get rid of him..and soon, as he's a total liability.

I think you're right. I bet he sets it up again, perhaps under a different name, when the dust settles. He's obviously not satisfied with the job he has, so if John's lucky he'll move on soon anyway.

John treated him well too..kept him busy and this is the thanks he gets. So, yes, you're right, the quicker this guy decides to leave the better.

Hopefully, Graduate Boy is shown the door soon. That sort of behavior shouldn't be tolerated, and I don't understand why they have allowed for him to continue on with it for so long. It's good that John is one to keep his cool, though.

John has treated him well, too, as he's into fairness..and this is how he's being repaid. Good riddance I say..when he decides to go that is.

Most places would have sacked Graduate Boy on the spot after learning about his website and false claims, but I think you said once that he was related to one of the bosses?

I mentioned that fact to John the other day and he said that it's not been proven that he's related to anyone - either the Reeds bosses or the ones at H&H (the latter being the owners now), which is even worse when you think about it. I only hope things improve because it's unfair that John is having to sort all the problems out. Graduate Boy was a problem long before John became a manager and nothing was done about him - just the odd verbal warning that he's chosen to ignore. Also, the fact that he rarely does overtime but doesn't use his spare time to 'party' like everyone thought. He used it to plug himself online and to plaguerise work from Reeds not even done by him. I'd love to know how much he's made 'working on the side.'

It sounds like progress to me. Do you think graduate boy might really be someone's relative? as if he is that sounds like an interesting power struggle. It makes sense as his behaviour sounds very much like what you would expect from someone who got the job too easily, and didn't value it enough. there is quite a lot of competition for jobs for graphic designers, if that is what he does for reed's, still when he does go, and it sounds like he will, it will be nice to see the job go to someone who really wants it.

I've found out off John that the letter sent to Graduate Boy was 'very hard-hitting' and didn't mince words, so to speak, so he's bound to go soon anyway. I can't see his heart being in it (not that it ever has, he was just using the place as a springboard for something else) and yes, his replacement will, no doubt, love the job..whenever that day comes of course.
