When I was returning from my months visit with my brother I shipped all my belongings back in 5 boxe because I had two pieces of luggage and had to pay $25.00 for the first check bag and #35.00 for the second check in piece...so my sister's husband was able to ship all 5 boxes for me from his job and it did not cost me anything... I was lucky to have had that availabiliy to me..I was willing to pay something but he refused to take anything... That saved me money and I was happy about that...but thank God I didn't have any luggage because my connecting flight was cancelled and everyone had to retrieve their own luggage and keep in over night with them..I don't know if they had lockers...it really did't matter to me because I did not have any...

That was a really smart thing to do and it really saved you some effort with changing planes and cancellations. If I ever fly again anywhere I would consider doing that. It just makes sense. For the prices they charge you could almost buy what you need once you get there.

That is part of the reason that I do not travel by plane often. It is just too much hassle and not very customer friendly.

bjc66bjc LOL what a clever idea...glad you could take advantage of this. I wonder what the cost of shipping the boxes verses the plane fee would be in case one didn't have an opportunuty to ship for free...

Well, many times the extra charges they try and charge anymore when you travel especially on a plane can add up. It really does not make any sense, and it makes you wonder sometimes, especially with so many people flying all the time. But when you had someone offer to send them to you for FREE, that is a good thing, and I hope you took time to thank them as well.

It was great that you were able to ship your things back home from your brother. It saved you so very much money indeed. I booked all my luggage through from England to the coastline of Colombia. Then there was a 2 hour delay, missed connections and when we arrived I wondered where our luggage was. Some of our luggage arrived at our hotel later but some of it the airline lost. When I was on my trip around the world I spent much time in Australia. I worked out the way to send most of my extra things home. It was in small packets by sea mail. These took 6 to 8 weeks to get from Australia to England. Perfect.
